An article from guest author Angela Lash The True Cost of Polygamy Mainstream Mormons (also known as Latter Day Saints) denounced polygamy officially in 1890 but members of fundamentalist sects of Mormonism (Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints) are doing all they can to make this alternative lifestyle acceptable. Using the freedom of religion clause from the 1st amendment, adherents say plural marriage is their right. One such community (of many spread throughout the western United States, Mexico and Canada) is Colorado City, AZ. There, the first amendment is used as cover for molestation, statutory rape, and government fraud. Jon Krakauer, in his book Under the Banner of Heaven, brings unmistakable evidence of these crimes as he highlights the sect known as UEP (United Effort Plan) the worlds largest of the three fundamentalist LDS sects in Colorado City. From his work, the following information came to public light in 2003.

Listen you, I am not talking about ADULTS. Pay attention and try to keep up with the rest of us.
I am talking about CHILDREN. The offspring of these miscreants.
I personally do not care if you or anyone else have 590934 spouses, provided I am not on the hook for their Social Security spousal benefits. I really don’t.
I CARE about the minors borne of these arrangements and the life they can expect as a result of it. These are not adults, nor willing participants. They are deprived of anything any normal human being would describe as education. They are cut off from the entire world. These girls are abused and the boys are abandoned.
Good grief.
It's wrong, but how is it any different that what happens in many inner cities, where guys have children with multiple women (and girls) and all the "wives" and kids live as wards of the state?
Monogamy is an imposition of religion by the state and was originally a tool used to determine hereditary kingdoms against the wishes of the king.
Henry VIII wasn't dumb... The Presbyters did the same thing to Elizabeth I, but she was smarter than they were, she just didn't get married...
“The punishment for polygamy is having more than one wife.”
And who knows how many Mother In Laws?
Since there are a limited number of wives available for addition to the household, competition becomes fierce and inevitably leads to girls being married off at increasingly younger ages. This has nothing to do with the First Amendment.
Marriage is a public act of privilege that requires a statutory license. It is for determining heredity...
The evolution of any mammal is entirely heterosexual and biological inheritance is exactly why 'theoretical evolution' applies here.
So you would forbid them from having children then?
Maybe you can have the State forcibly sterilize them or something. If that fails you can contact the Chinese government and get some tips on how to run a snappy program of forced abortion.
I bet these people “gasp” homeschool, too! Let’s just send in the State and take their kids at gunpoint so they can be properly educated in a State approved setting.
It is NO different!
BTW, this author left out a couple of things that the locals know:
They deliberately build these houses on the border of AZ and UT...and I mean the border. That’s because it allows them to run to the AZ side of the house when the UT law enforcement show up and vice-versa.
The other thing is, none of these homes are ever “finished.” They leave a side or section unfinished so they cannot be assessed higher property taxes.
Gay marriage, polygamy....flushing civilization down the toilet, one turd at a time.
Consenting adults, yes.
Underage children? Your thoughts.
Marriage is a privilege granted by the State? Where is that in the Bible?
You are making the wrong argument...
Polygyny and polyandry is heterosexual and is a natural communion of reproduction, regardless of how much we might not like it.
The right men have by nature to reproduce cannot be controlled by any law, however we can dispense certain societal privilege and immunities with marriage.
Homosexuals cannot reproduce with each other - - and this is the bullet proof secular argument we need to rub the faces of the Left into.
The ancillary and illogical “exploitation of minors” argument (which I agree with) only clouds the issue and allows the Leftist liars to go off topic...
I’ve given you my thoughts. Cnsenting adults should be free to order their lives in any manner they choose without interference from the State. As long as no force, threat of force, or fraud is involved it is quite simply none of your business.
Period.
If they’re raping minors, hang them in the village square. If they’re all adults, leave them the hell alone.
What I would say is this:
If you are interested in a polygamist lifestyle, you should be of the adult age that we don’t have to worry about children. That should be a grown up decision anyway. Make sure the lifestyle includes you and not kids who have no choice, eh?
I note you haven’t answered me yet. What do you intend to do about junior high school aged girls being promised to 85 year old men, and junior high school aged boys being dumped off in the desert, with only the clothes on their back.
My question exactly...
The right we have by nature to reproduce (which is in Genesis) can not be controlled by any law of man...
Yes...
But the problem is in education... you are a teacher...
Polygyny - one man, many wives
Polyandry - one woman, many husbands
Mammalian evolution - entirely heterosexual
I am counting on you as a teacher to be more exact in your instruction to the class room.
The only way we are ever going to defeat this monster is to not be niggardly with our speech.
Please, take a moment to consider what I have posted here in response to others.
Everything you need to know is in Genesis, if you really take the time to have an understanding...
There’s always the 72 virgins, isn’t there?
So you're in favor of forced sterilizations and mandatory abortions for them then?
Islamic birth control is a bomb strapped to a ten year old...
