'Cheers' actor on hand as Ohio Gov. Kasich, Treasurer Mandel take office

Cliff Clavin was among those who came to Ohio this weekend to help Gov. John Kasich and Treasurer Josh Mandel take office.

John Ratzenberger, perhaps best known for his role as Clavin on the television show Cheers, attended a salute to incoming first lady Karen Waldbillig Kasich at the Columbus Museum of Art on Saturday night and was master of ceremonies for Mandel's swearing-in ceremony yesterday.

Ratzenberger said that he knows Kasich from appearing on Kasich's former Fox News television show, and that Kasich also appeared on Ratzenberger's show about manufacturing in the United States called John Ratzenberger's Made in America.

"It's refreshing to see John at the helm because the country was founded on the same principles that your new governor stands for," Ratzenberger told reporters. "So it's a relief to me to see John get elected."

Ratzenberger, who said he splits time between Connecticut and Los Angeles, said he also knows Mandel and that "it's nice to have a Marine in charge of your dollars."

Attaboy, Cliffie!

I've heard Mr. Ratzenberger speak on conservative issues in the past - he is extremely eloquent.

I remember the first time watching The Incredibles, and near the end I kept thinking, “I can’t believe John Ratzenberger wasn’t in this one,” but there he was right at the end, I guess they had a hard time figuring out how to shoehorn him into that one.

Ya see, I knew that uh, John would be Governor of Ohio. And uh, as a matter of fact ... I predicted ... same as I predicted Yelnick Mcwawa would be President.

Yes he is..and funny too. The best one I read about was that he WAS at Woodstock and explains the Rat’ party. Learned about it here on FR..

Thanks for the link. Here's what he said.

"I was at Woodstock — I built the stage. And when everything fell apart, and people were fighting for peanut-butter sandwiches, it was the National Guard who came in and saved the same people who were protesting them. So when Hillary Clinton a few years ago wanted to build a Woodstock memorial, I said it should be a statue of a National Guardsman feeding a crying hippie."

I love it. The difference between a blue collar boomer who went out and worked for a living and the trust fund boomers who partied on their evil capitalist Daddy's money.
