How stupid can one person be? And what is so special about government people? They are the biggest crooks on the planet.

Lets write a law outlawing any kind of armed crime . . . . . . woops, criminals do things like break the law - and politicans leave law-abiding citizens unprotected.

So a person with a CCW walking by can be arrested. Great! How about commitment for crazies walking around? Can’t do that, Shysters would sue. Rep King should soak his head.

As long as that law applies to the officials and to law enforcement as well, that’d be okay - otherwise, fuggedaboudit!

“They” sure didn’t have a law banning dead Ted from being within 1,000 feet of an Oldsmobile, did they?

What a crock!!!

Politicians of both parties seem to be in need of some clear thinking.

That is about the most dumbass remark I have yet heard re: the Tucson murders.

Surely, any potential shooter would ignore such a law, you think?

It would be observed just like all the other “gun control” laws: good guys ‘n gals would be unarmed, and the bad guys ‘n gals would be armed.

How about outlawing insane people from being within 1000 feet of a Congressman... no, then Rep. King would have to attend sessions of Congress by teleconference.

Yeah that would have stopped the Arizona shooter. After all he certainly wouldn’t have wanted to break any laws or anything.

Idiots.

I was hoping that Peter King was returning to sanity, after his little love affair with Bill Clinton. But evidently not.

What a jerk.

And of course, all new guns will require RFID’s so that the Congressmen can know who is where with a gun.

Hopefully, this is King grandstanding.

Essentially, anyone near a Congressman will now be subject to searches and frisking, of themselves, their bags, and their cars.

He certainly seems to have ignored all the laws dealing with shooting people.

Two situations:

1. A psycho is carrying a gun with the intent of murdering the federal official. Is he likely to change his mind at 1,000 feet when he realizes that he’d be committing two crimes and not just one?

2. A responsible American with a concealed carry permit plans to listen to a federal official talk. Will he still show up and be available to help (assuming it’s the same event that the psycho attends) if he realizes that attending while carrying would be a crime?

This is a classic lib proposal: in all imaginable situations, it makes the problem worse.
