Urinal explosion causes brief evacuation at (Tacoma, Wa) Foss High School

Foss High School was briefly evacuated today after three students tried to flush firecrackers down a urinal in the boy’s bathroom.
Someone pulled a fire alarm about noon - during the school's second lunch period - and a school resource officer went to investigate. Following the smell of smoke, he found the remnants of a urinal.
“It looks like some kind of fireworks in the toilet,” said Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum.
The bomb squad responded and officers walked the campus with a K-9 unit before allowing students back into classrooms about 1 p.m.
Three students have been detained for questioning, said Tacoma Public Schools spokeswoman Stacey Flores.

This is still going on? Cherry bombs or M-80s were used in my day. I guess so. Probably today's versions have warning labels on them: "WARNING: Dispose of promptly after lighting".

Yup! Cherry bombs and Silver Tubes were used when I was in High School. I flushed a Cheery Bomb down the cr@pper in my dorm’s all marble bathroom in ‘63. The noise was amazing!

Yes I did in college. That was back when you could purchase
black powder ingredients at the pharmacy. Told the counter
person we needed the KNO2 for ‘pickling brine’ (hehehe)!
Today I would have probably been sent to eat orange chicken
with the guests at Gitmo.
