NYT, WASH PO COMMENTS GO VIRAL against Palin, Tea Party, Glenn Beck, guns and Talk Radio
New York Times ^ | January 8, 2011 | various

Posted on 01/08/2011 2:35:22 PM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

NYT: “….During the fall campaign, Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice-presidential candidate, posted a controversial map on her Facebook page depicting spots where Democrats were running for re-election; those Democrats were noted by crosshairs symbols like those seen through the scope of a gun. Ms. Giffords was among those on Ms. Palin’s map….”

COMMENTS:

[snips]

--Stop this tea party madness. One civil war in our land is quite enough.

--Well, the shooter is a "real american" (as Palin would call him), not a mexican or muslim. My prayers to her family.

--Glenn Beck has spent the better part of the last two years inciting violence and hatred. This is what all of that has come to. Take that man off the air, now.

--How terrible. Such violence is an unfortunate reflection on our uncivil political scene and inadequate gun control laws, and a tragedy for all the victims.

--Terrible, sad and scary news, but not unexpected given the climate of hate since the election of Barack “Hussein” Obama, like the fringe and some irresponsible politicians like to call him. The state of Arizona seems to get crazier by the day. And it’s no surprise that the Tea Partiers and their ilk are so fond of Arizona because it’s at the forefront of many of their battles. Hopefully this is not the way the rest of the U.S. is going. Scary indeed.

Assuming that these shooting was politically motivated (wouldn’t it be a terror attack or is that term only applied to Muslim extremists?): this is a huge warning sign for the President and his security staff (“be afraid as we might be coming for you next”). And the ideological culprits can most likely be found in talk radio, and a certain cable news organization....

Now that we know the killer was a leftist, will these same people call for the abolition of NPR?

ABC:............In another video posted on YouTube, Loughner uses repetitive, convoluted logic when defining terrorism.

“If I define terrorist then a terrorist is a person who employs terror or terrorism, especially as a political weapon. I define terrorist. Thus, a terrorist is a person who employs terror or terrorism, especially as a political weapon,” the video, entitled “Introduction: Jared Loughner,” says. “If you call me a terrorist then the argument to call me a terrorist is Ad hominem. You call me a terrorist. Thus, the argument to call me a terrorist is Ad hominem.”

In the same video, Loughner accuses the government of mind control.

“In conclusion, reading the second United States Constitution, I can’t trust the current government because of the ratifications: The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar. No! I won’t pay debt with a currency that’s not backed by gold and silver! No! I won’t trust in God!” it says.

In the YouTube profile, the account holder, identified as Loughner, lists “The Communist Manifesto” and “Mein Kampf” among his favorite books.

A former classmate of Loughner’s told ABC News he was extremely political in high school, but not radical. The classmate said Loughner once met Giffords in 2007 and said he thought the congresswoman was “unintelligent.” .......

Typical leftist journalism.

The lawsuit was adjudicated two years ago. Roger Barnett, a rancher who had detained and held for border patrol pickup over 12,000 illegals trespassing over his property for the prior 10 year period, was the defendant. He’s a retired deputy sheriff and business man. His wife was also named as a defendant. Barnett testified before congress about border problems caused by illegals some 10 years before the suit was filed. Barnett and his family members have had guns pointed at them, their house broken into, vehicles stolen, equipment stolen and vandalized, literally tons of trash and excrement left for him to clean up, livestock stolen, killed and eaten, livestock poisoned, and generally had their lives made a living misery by these people.

MALDEF, the lawyer wing of the La Raza/LULAC/Mecha organizations, sued on behalf of 16 “victims” they dredged up who Barnett caught on his property and detained for the border patrol. The suit was based on a claim of civil rights violation. Judge Roll certified the case which allowed it to move forward. That meant that Barnett had to mount an expensive defense.

I’m surprised it took MALDEF 10 years to get even with barnett for his testimoney before congress.

Barnett eventually mostly prevailed, but it was costly and stressful, to say the least.

If the locals weren’t too fond of Roll for putting a solid, law-abiding American through such a terrible experience, you reap what you sow. AZ has the Castle Doctrine, something the judge evidently forgot. The case should have been summarily dismissed.

Those were not rifle scope crosshairs on Palin’s map, they were surveyor’s marks.

Look what else they’re up to:

Sign Petition to Indict Sarah Palin

By Dr Stuart Jeanne Bramhall

There is ample evidence from Palin’s public speeches and commentary that the image was used with the specific intent of inciting violence against Democratic congressmen labeled with these gun targets.

The other congressmen targeted by Palin are at serious risk if the DOJ fails to pursue this vigorously. Allowing Palin and others to continue to promote this type of gratuitous violence sets a dangerous precedent. It’s actually quite reminiscent of the activities of Hitler’s brown shirts -” which unfortunately were never investigated or prosecuted by the German government.

Palin has wisely taken the gun targets off her site this morning, but you can view it here:

Since the shooter was a lefty, will they also start circulating one asking to indict Oblerman and the rest of those communists on MSNBC?

They bring a knife, you bring a gun - Barack Obama

Well now, just who is suggesting violence? Us or the One?

They are trying to tie that imbecile Tucson shooter to the Tea Party Movement, talk radio, etc. Not to worry, I don't think anyone with at least half of a brain will fall for this idiotic accusation.

I really hate (sorry but I do) these people. They just make stuff up! First, those were survey points on the map, not crosshairs you would see through a gun! These people are absolutely despicable!

It is the left in this country who hate this country and who are filled with piss and hatred! They never pass up an opportunity to employ good old Saul Alinsky tactics!

But the map with targets on it posted at the DailyKos is just okay. Want to see it? I think it’s posted at Pam Geller’s site. Of course kos has scrubbed it.

Quick what politician said "if they bring a knife we bring a gun"? What politician told his supporters to "get in the face" of opponents?

What Tuscon AZ mass murderer said one of his favorite books was the Communist Manifesto?
