The Congressional Budget Office, in an email to Capitol Hill staffers obtained by the Spectator, has said that repealing the national health care law would reduce net spending by $540 billion in the ten year period from 2012 through 2021. That number represents the cost of the new provisions, minus Medicare cuts.
Repealing the bill would also eliminate $770 billion in taxes. It's the tax hikes in the health care law (along with the Medicare cuts) which accounts for the $230 billion in deficit reduction.
Full email, from Edward "Sandy" Davis, CBO's Associate Director for Legislative Affairs, below.

I keep hearing Republicans reciting that "repeal and replace" line. That's bothersome.

I don’t think there’d be much “collateral damage” if that were to occur ;)

Additional Information on CBOs Preliminary Analysis of H.R. 2
We have been asked to provide the revenue and direct spending components of that total. Extrapolating the estimated budgetary effects of the original health care legislation and accounting for the effects of subsequent legislation, CBO anticipates that enacting H.R. 2 would probably yield, for the 2012-2021 period, a reduction in revenues in the neighborhood of $770 billion and
a reduction in outlays in the vicinity of $540 billion, plus or minus the effects of forthcoming technical and economic changes to CBOs and JCTs projections.

Thats funny, weve supported lower taxes for the past 30 years.
Actually, the vast majority of people support having their taxes lowered (democrats and republicans), but having other people's taxes increased to pay for bigger government. ;)

I keep hearing Republicans reciting that "repeal and replace" line. That's bothersome. Yes it is. I want NO replacement.
Total eradication is required for health 'reform' and that would just be a beginning.

Whoever the pointless, feckless, faceless tools in the CBO are, they need to be introduced to long-term unemployment, pronto.
They are worse than unreliable. They are diversionary and erratically political.
Who are the CBO employees and do we ever see their faces or names? FIRE THEM AS A DEFICIT REDUCTION MEASURE.
Stand up, Boehner...at least he has ridiculed their numbers.

The CBO analysts’ hands are tied. They are given a bill by a Rep or a Senator, and told to score it. That is what they must do — score that bill and only that bill. They do not have the latitude to say:
“Well, this bill would actually reduce the deficit; however, you have stripped from this bill a lot of necessary spending measures which you are planning to enact in separate bills. And if those other spending measures were included in the bill you’ve asked us to score, then the cumulative effect would be to increase the deficit.”
That’s what is meant by “garbage in, garbage out.”

Nobody needs to know all their CBO chicanery to understand this. CANCELLING a huge **spending** program will only SAVE money,,
Nothing else matters but that one fact.
