He looks a little like a black Andrew Jackson in that picture. Or, if you like, Barry O in about 10 years. The guy sounds a bit like Mark Simone on WABC in NY.

I hope he’s cleaned up and becomes self-supporting.

I don’t know if he’s a con or not, but I still don’t hear anything in his voice that is different or better from about 95% of current voiceover professionals in the field.
Compared to the average person it’s a nice voice. Compared to people with professional nice voices, it’s average.
Still, I’m happy if he turns his life around.

Compared to people with professional nice voices He is professionally trained. He ruined his life with drugs and alcohol and is now clean.

I prayed for him when I first read about this, and I am sure others did, as well. I wish him well.

He may have voice, but whatever happened to having a brain too?

I thought there were Christians on this forum. Some of you need to go read a bible.

Two years clean and he has the Lord. I think he has a chance at this.

As I recall from my radio days, ruining your life with drugs and alcohol seemed like a requirement!!!

Did you watch the interview at the link? He said he was a functional drunk but the coke took him down.

OK...time for a rant. Apply as required.
I'm disgusted by a few of the comments I see about this man and his new chance at life.
I've been seeing more and more of these petty, intolerant, self-righteous, hoity-toity, holier-than-thou screeds n the last couple of years. They suck and make the commenters look like the south end of a north-bound mule.
I consider myself to be a Christian. A poor one at best;but I try. Everyday I ask the Good Lord to forgive me of my sins - both past and present ones. I guess that someday I'll find out if I'm forgiven, but until then I'll keep asking and try to be worthy of that forgiveness.
So, it just seems logical to me that, in my life, I should extend that same forgiveness to others. What they do with it is their bidness. They'll one day answer to the same one as I will.
Now I am not saying to be a fool about it - one doesn't pet a snake and expect to never get bitten. But, I think the final call will be the Lords - Each will be judged and found either wanting or sufficient.
How much forgiveness? I think the Bible, somewhere - I am not a Biblical scholar, says that the limit on forgiveness is pretty high...maybe infinite, I'm not real sure. So I figure to just go ahead and do it and let it be sorted out later.
Like I said, I'm a Christian, not a real good one, but I think these "Holier-than-thou" church ladies so go find a vertical rope and direct a urine stream up it for a bit. Maybe even face into the wind while doing it.
In the words of Freddie the Freeloader (Red Skelton).."Good-bye and God Bless"
.../rant.

A very nice rant indeed! I’m sure there are many here who notice the gradual change of tone here.
As fot the deep voiced survivor, I was impressed with his tone. He looks like Richardo Montelbon (sp).
I wish him well on his recovery and rebirth. Life isn’t over until God says its over. I pray that we all get every chance we need to improve.

It’s a nice story - and I sure wish my voice sounded as good as his.

I agree and wish him good luck. I watched the linked Today Show interview. Maybe the others didn’t

I'm disgusted by a few of the comments I see about this man and his new chance at life. Your points are interesting and doubtlessly made with the best of intentions. But this Ted Williams character is now doing voice work for MSNBC. He was also on Rachel Maddow's program tonight as part of a segment attacking the Constitution.
The druggie was convicted of multiple felonies and is already reverting to dumbocrat ways. He's a con artist. My cynicism when this story first broke was spot on.
