I would like to state my case that we should pay more attention to Jon Stewart.
The same people who thought the Colbert testimony was a good idea are saying reading the Constitution is a “waste of time”.
I saw that one last night. It was funny as hell. It’s a rarity....but he has hit a couple out of the ball park. Other than that.....I can’t stand the guy.
By the way, that Supersize Me movie is so DUMB. The whole premise is nonsense. It's f-ing sad to see Ray Kroc's great achievement dragged thru the "progressive" mud. I hate hate hate the left.
He'll wind up on Fox News, because it's the only news network with ratings ... and because he shows up on O'Reilly already.
Anyone who has read my posts knows that I am no fan of John McCain. However, this creation of a puppet was nastily unfair. He even had JM screaming at Stewart as a "Jew Boy." Has McCain ever shown any signs of anti-semitism? Are we going to hear from Meghan McCain about this calumny against her father, coming straight from the Cool Table at high school?
This sort of thing can take on a life of its own, particularly given the rank ignorance and stupidity of Stewart's audience, who seem to take a hit of meth and go "wooo wooo!" at just about any garbage that comes out of JS's mouth. It's the response of the audience that disquiets and alarms me. America's twenty-somethings all believe that Sarah Palin said "I can see Russia from my house" even though it was part of a SNL skit.
The hypocrite Stewart speaks piously about homosexuals being able to "serve their country" (his beef with McCain is that JM does not support the ban on DADT) but we all know that he holds the military in contempt.
To follow his repulsive skit with the puppet, he went on to gloat over the firing of the captain of the Enterprise for making a politically incorrect movie some FIVE YEARS AGO. Now we know that not only do our young servicemen (in their twenties and even teens) will not only have to submit to being "checked out" by gays, but had better watch their language and not use the "fag" word, lest they get demoted.
Stewart reduces everything to a self-righteous smirk, or a gratuitous "f###ing"--dismissing the problem of men right out of high school who are expected to fight, face death, and kill....but say really nice things about other men who introduce unwanted sexual tension to the already dangerous mix.
Like Stewart would ever pick up a gun and serve his country? Even though he is way too short and far too old to sign up, we all know how he reacts to physical danger since the Times Square Al Quaeda bombing attempt. After that, the edict came down to not even say the word "muslim"...
Way to get edgy, you pathetic coward, Jon Stewart.
Notice how carefully this riff avoids Michelle Obama’s obesity war. We can’t say anything bad about the Wookie, but we can make fun of this anonymous Asian guy.
Even Ray would blanch at the idea of eating McDonalds food three times a day.
Why not do a movie about eating a pound of cheese three times a day.
Drinking 5 quarts of water three times a day.
Water make me sick, water bad.
Sorry, as a conservative I just can’t get into any censorship. Sure the mush heads will listen, so what. If there are enough differing viewpoints out there, the bad ones will be left in the trash.
Because the stupid kids eat it up, and imitate him! Obama would not have won without the Daily Show.
How is keeping an eye on him censorship?
Imagine the corporate executive at Pfeizer who invites Michael Moore to speak at the anual stockholders meeting?
You think that idiot would have a job the next day?
Obama won because nonpolitical folks felt what harm could it do if they broke the race barrier and elected the blackish guy.
They paid no attention to his racist leftists incapable past and elected a teleprompter reading nitwit.
Far from being funny it was painful to watch.
So I guess "we" who are supposed to keep an eye on jon stewart are really the problem huh?
When Stewart (who keeps drawing attn to his Jewishness, even though he changed his name from Leibowitz and professes athiesm) creates a puppet McCain to call him "Jew Boy"...that's to make himself into the person victim of John McCain.
It was that moment that prompted this thread. I've been watching the show lately to try to understand the "cool" factor. I just can't get it.
How can a guy who's on the wrong end of forty, with a speech impediment and hair plugs be "cool"?
And he's so dadgum MEAN--have you seen that youtube of him at Northwestern University, saying "f*** you, Sarah Palin" over and over? The hateful, enraged look in his eyes? This is what a lot of young people are admiring.
He's a shallow, pathetic coward, but people underestimate his currency and pull.
Trolling for Jon Stewart comments is like trolling for comments on the best tool to have in one’s toolbox.
The WH takes him seriously. And since he's not very funny, I take him seriously, too.
However, his "cool" extends far beyond the show. Most people get his bits via the internet. These are abbreviated, deceptive takes on Republican/conservative "hypocrisies" that somehow Stewart's crack Ivy League staff are always putting together.
This guy gets a lot of his stuff from Huffpo, via Soros and Media Matters. He is significant, and will be significant in 2012.
Give it a few weeks, and somehow college students will be convinced that John McCain calls people "Jew Boy."
