Sarah Palin hints support for 'don't ask, don't tell' repeal
Politico ^ | 1/4/10 | Andy Barr

Former Alaska GOP Gov. Sarah Palin – whose lips have been sealed about the recent repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” – is now hinting that she supports the move.

Palin has not spoken publicly about the end of the ban on gays serving openly in the military, but she appeared to show support for the change via a retweet on Monday night of a gay conservative radio host.

Well, it won’t be long before the cultists are marveling at the bravery of Palin’s position, I’m sure.

I’m sure the feds pay a team to monitor Palin’s tweets 24/7/364. (They’re off on President’s Day.) And this is paid by the tax payer.

CNN and MSNBC pays a team but it’s paid for with ad revenue. Come to think about it, the feds may not need a team. CNN and MSNBC simply reports to the WH any tweets they think is important.

I’m not looking for, nor do I expect to find, perfection. So far, Sarah is the best I’ve seen. She has a solid core...things you list are smudges on a mirror or bumps in the road to me. She loves America and will adapt and adjust her positions as more information is available to her. Bottom line, I trust her judgement and intentions for our country. A mistake is only that if it remains uncorrected.

Or how Sarah Palin supported the bailouts, believes in global warming, hems and haws on DADT and may be pro-amnesty for illegals.

Palin is miles ahead of Huckabee/Romney/Gingrich. But I'd take someone like Jim DeMint over her every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I suspect there are going to be a lot of posters who go into denial over Palin’s position on gays. I can’t imagine anyone here starting to call her a RINO but stranger things have happened.

This isn’t a minor issue any more than abortion is a minor issue. I also don’t see the evidence that she is as terrific on the other issues as you seem to think. Please understand that I don’t think she is bad on the issues you cite, but regarding free markets, Ron Paul she isn’t (remember we aren’t talking foreign policy here and I am not endosing RP, who voted to repeal DADT. I am only pointing that the only A+ that comes readily to mind on free markets is RP).

I’d much rather see DeMint or Pence as the nominee.

My God, does anyone here know how to use a search engine?

The ‘Cap And Tax’ Dead End (Excerpt)
By Sarah Palin
Tuesday, July 14, 2009

There is no shortage of threats to our economy. America’s unemployment rate recently hit its highest mark in more than 25 years and is expected to continue climbing. Worries are widespread that even when the economy finally rebounds, the recovery won’t bring jobs. Our nation’s debt is unsustainable, and the federal government’s reach into the private sector is unprecedented.

Unfortunately, many in the national media would rather focus on the personality-driven political gossip of the day than on the gravity of these challenges. So, at risk of disappointing the chattering class, let me make clear what is foremost on my mind and where my focus will be:

I am deeply concerned about President Obama’s cap-and-trade energy plan, and I believe it is an enormous threat to our economy. It would undermine our recovery over the short term and would inflict permanent damage.

American prosperity has always been driven by the steady supply of abundant, affordable energy. Particularly in Alaska, we understand the inherent link between energy and prosperity, energy and opportunity, and energy and security. Consequently, many of us in this huge, energy-rich state recognize that the president’s cap-and-trade energy tax would adversely affect every aspect of the U.S. economy...

Maybe if she retweets her retweet we will think she isn’t for DADT. LOL

Ahhh, thank you. That seems VERY clear. I try not to use search engines on topics which will deliver a billion hits. Overwhelms me, you know. Thanks again.

[ Last year, she said “not right now” that there are more important things to do. SO she’s more than a bit squishy on this. ]

Your opinion of what, you think, she thinks is legal..
But may not be accurate.. until she "says it"..

I doubt that shes a jack-wagon... or Todd..

Sarah Palin is a politician. Granted, I don't understand fully that mindset or why any sane individual would subject themselves to all the punishment that that entails..Exhibit A: Sarah Palin. However, Sarah is a wife, mother and good old USA citizen that has chosen to enter that arena. I trust her. She may be thinking..’If you want it done right you have to do it yourself.’ God bless her. She has my support because I believe that her talents are awesome and her motives are sincere. Plus, look at who the heck is leading us now! Hello, Havana.

My belief is that the current administration is going to use the military to bring in gay marriage by regulation, by manipulating the rules on military dependents. So this isn’t just about who gets to wear the uniform. I think this is a big deal.

Since she brought it up, she needs to clarify her views on it.

I could get used to this. Maybe she will try a triple lindy tweet next.

Thats one that is an affirmation of a noncommittal position.

I don’t. I read both Bruce’s and Palin’s tweet pages

Aaaaaaand? Do you conclude that Politico's headline is justified?

I don't. My guess, knowing Palin from her previous works, is that she's saying, "I agree with Tammy that DADT is NOT a priority right now." Which, as a Christian conservative, I agree with. To everything, there is a season. Obamacare must go, now. Spending must be cut, now. Taxes must be lowered, now. No time to fool with penny-ante stuff like queers in the military.

This isn’t a minor issue any more than abortion is a minor issue.

So, let me try to grok this moral equivalency you've just set up: Sucking little babies' BRAINS in to the SINK is equivalent to allowing homosexuals who are ALREADY in the military to declare they're here and they're queer.

If that's what you think, you have lost your sense of moral proportion.

The problem was letting queers INTO THE MILITARY to start with! This DADT repeal is a _nothingburger_ compared to the THOUSANDS of babies who die every day in abortion clinics.

PRIORITIES. Having none is why the Republican party fails so often. The Dems have no problem with getting their agenda done incrementally, and prioritizing what they want first. But, no, Sarah Palin has to declare her FEALTY to do EVERYTHING at once, or she "supports DADT repeal". Give me a freaking break.
