RNC sees deep red for 2012 budget (Historic RNC Debt may sink Michael Steele)
Washington Times ^ | 01/03/2010 | Ralph Hallow

The next chairman of the Republican National Committee will face a money-raising challenge of historic proportions.

The unreleased official budget of the RNC reveals that the Republican Party's national governing body and premier fundraising apparatus begins the 2011-12 presidential election cycle more than $20 million in the hole.

"A record for any year in the past 30 years," Maria Cino, a candidate for the RNC chairmanship and a former deputy transportation secretary, told The Washington Times.

The budget was approved by RNC Chairman Michael S. Steele's Budget Committee.

The document also reveals that the RNC will enter the 2012 presidential election year at least $10 million in arrears. "That is also unheard of in 30 years for a presidential year — or for that matter, any congressional election year," Ms. Cino said.

That figure also comes from the same budget approved by Maryland RNC member Louis Pope — Mr. Steele's hand-picked Budget Committee chairman and a supporter of Mr. Steele's Jan. 14 re-election bid.

"We've never had a debt that big, ever, going into a presidential election cycle," former RNC General Counsel David Norcross told The Times.

Federal Election Commission records show a dismal picture for the next chairman. As of Dec. 29, the RNC had $15,013,443.70 in debts and loans — $12 million more than the deepest RNC financial hole in at least 14 years.

I only donate directly to candidates I support.

When I donated to the RNC, it went to candidates Tokyo Rove supported.

Now they don't get anything from me any more.

They can solve the problem by becoming true republicans. I don’t want my money supporting RINOs, not one damned cent of it!

I think this is systemic.

For the last few years, I've contributed only to individual candidates or to PACs that I trust (Club for Growth, Jim DeMint's Senate PAC).

Never, never. never, to a party.

Replacing Steele would not change that...my guess is that many more are doing the same thing.

Yet I get emails from them taking credit for the 2010 election wins. As if they had anything to do with it other than getting in the way.

I did the same thing around 2000. Tired of seeing the RNC churn out RINO’s.

I agree with this being systemic. I used to send small contributions to the RNC, but I stopped because republicans in general weren’t conservative. I also just send money to individual candidates. I don’t think you can completely blame Steele for this. But the RNC is democrat light and I won’t support them.

When the RNC called me last I asked a simple question. “Does the RNC consider McCain to be a conservative Republican.” They guy responded that McCain had both good and bad points.

I said, “wrong answer” and hung up.

Wow.

Neither side gets it, do they?

How can we possibly trust the GOP with our money when their own organization can’t stay in the black?

This country is in deep and serious trouble.

When the RNC starts acting conservative they can expect more contributions. When they support RINO’s they deserve to be in the “red” it is only fitting

Steele is not a RINO ,,, “ he is a democRAT mole “ ,, placed in the party to destroy any chance of any GOP political gains . A loyal party member would resign under the continuing dissatisfaction of his performance . I refuse to send him GOP support contributions until he is history .

.

You're exactly correct ...

Michale Steele ... your GOP-RNC financial problems are EXCLUSIVELY caused by RINOs like Orin Hatch, Olympia Snowe, Murkowski (AK), John McNasty McCain ... ad nauseum ...
