Outgoing Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) said Thursday that a "credible conservative" movement that doesn't focus on "hatred" of President Obama is needed.
Inglis was defeated in a landslide by Trey Gowdy in the June primary runoff. Gowdy, a staunch conservative and Tea Party favorite, went on to win the 4th District seat in November.
Inglis lamented on CNN that the current wave of populist conservatism is unlike that of Ronald Reagan.
"We'll get through and we'll get back to optimistic conservatism," he said. "We just got to get through this unfortunate period."
The congressman said he was wounded in his campaign by not joining "in the real bitterness toward the president."
"I don't call him a socialist because he's not," he said. "I don't doubt that he was born in Hawaii because he was. I don't call him a Muslim because he says he's a Christian. And I didn't say anything about death panels because there weren't any in that health care bill."

LOL. I posted before reading your response-GMTA! :-)
Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out, Bob Inglis. =.=
LOVE your post!
GET THEE BEHIND ME, RINO!
When are these guys going to figure it out?
I just got back from vacation and this is the first post I read for the New Year. It makes my day to hear the whining of yet another defeated RINO loser. Be gone, you degenerate loser RINO. Be gone!
The Muslim issue and the birth certificate issue had nothing to do with the central message of this campaign, so this is a smear. Government takeover of the health care system, cap and trade, takeover of student loans, (this list could continue indefinitely) - and he's not a socialist? Well whatever you call him that is an extreme agenda not in keeping with the American ideals of limited government and freedom - do you not understand that, Congressman? Death panels were in the health care bill and were just reinstated by regulatory order - paying doctors more to provide "end of life counseling" vs. treatment. He is either clueless or dishonest to analyze what happened in this manner.
Welcome back. Hope you had a great vacation. Wish all the dingdang RINO’s would climb on their ponies and ride off into the sunset.
So Mr Inglis, anybody who criticizes the president’s actions, words or policies is a racist?
How very original. Pfft. Good riddance to another RINO socialist-lite twit.
Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out!!!
I think now we can understand his special empathy for 0....
Here in lies the problem. Polls show that people do not dislike Obama as a person (for the most part) but that the legislation - direction and manner in which he is making this legislation is completely unacceptable to the American people.
THIS is the REAL issue.
It is not about race (he is half white - and was in fact voted in by many whites who are now against his agenda and being called racists)
It is not about his demeanor - people actually “like” him according to polls. (though I don’t because he is such a liar)
It is about disagreeing with his policy. It is about disagreeing with the policy of the last congress of spend tax, spend, tax, borrow, tax, spend spend spend. Then cramming legislation laws and regulations down our throats that we do not want.
Mark my words the next thing that we will see is his “civilian security force” it will take the shape of “community organizers” for the betterment of communities.
Nothing but blue shirts who will be there to watch over us to make sure that we are all being good little Americans that do not question the authority of the government.
If you think in 2012 that Obama is going to leave with a smile on his face, you damn well better think again people.
This is a preview Lindsay Grahmamnesty, when he loses his next primary election.
Optimistic conservatism? The kind that screwed up the chance they had in Congress so badly that they lost the 2006 and 2008 elections? The kind that caved on DADT and was ready to cave on Shamnesty? What were they optimistic about? That they could pretend to be Republicans forever while screwing over the nation?
This guy sounds like he is part of the problem. Good riddance.
Bobby, the reason why you lost is because you did not offer a real alternative to the party in power. You do not offer conservative solutions to our nation's problems. All you have to offer is a different party label. We don't want a different party label. We want results.
Obviously, Bob remains clueless. In the absense of a credible birth document, Onada remains a usurper. That’a not a racist statement. It’s fact. In fact, I will vote for anyone with core beliefs and who undersrtands the American Constitution remains the preeminent societal governing document the world has so far produced. I don’t care about skin color, gender or age. Sadly, Bob does.
Disagreeing with the lying Marxist is not racist. It’s about political philosophy and rule of law.
Bob is obviously devoid of principle, morality and patriotism.
It’s always entertaining to see a vacuuous and slimey blob like Bob try to take the high ground. Can’t be done. Doomed to keep sliding back into the muck.
Oh yeah?? Well, it WAS and also about his wrong-headed
policies and hatred of America. So, take THAT, RINO!....and
don’t let the door hit ya in the butt as ya leave!
Time to clean this place up!
Thank goodness he’s no longer in office.
