A mutiny for Mike
NY Post ^ | December 31, 2010 | Editorial

Posted on 12/31/2010 3:35:57 AM PST by Scanian

So it transpires that the city Depart ment of Investigation has been on to reports of a snow-removal slow down all week.

Go to it, folks.

People could have died because of the mini-mutiny -- and those responsible have much for which to answer.

The Post reported yesterday that sanitation employees purposely delayed plowing streets during and after the Christmas weekend blizzard.

It now seems that there was an effort to target certain politically connected neighborhoods -- like Borough Park in Brookyn and Middle Village in Queens.

Why?

Because hard times are on the city, austerity looms for everyone -- but unionized city employees feel they should be left untouched by the pain.

That's nothing new.

But a slowdown in a grave emergency is astonishingly new -- and Mayor Bloomberg cannot let those responsible get away with such a thing.

Already, he's promising an "extensive review" of the city's storm response.

But that can only be the beginning.

Let's be frank: If sanitation wildcatters skate on this, what will other public employees do when budget constraints force the city to cut deeper elsewhere?

Or hold down salaries?

Or insist on other concessions?

As this slowdown showed, some employees couldn't care less about the pain they inflict.

Indeed, the more, the better.

Manslaughter charges for all of the sanitation union members who directed and participated in this slowdown.

>>Manslaughter charges for all of the sanitation union members who directed and participated in this slowdown.<<

This is no ordinary crime; this is nothing but terrorism. Lock them up in Gitmo.

There are going to be a flood of lawsuits that will sue the city of New York over this.

Many stories of meedless deaths, fatalities, disabilities etc.

I was born and raised in New York but I no longer live there. This is the lowest point in the entire history of that once great city. It has sunk into the abyss. I bet New Yorkers would now like to see the re-emergence of Guiliani who would kick ass to get things done in any crisis.

Here is where Congress can help. There are all sorts of laws protecting unions, especially during organizing.

I suggest a law that any union action (stike, slowdown, etc) that jeopardizes lives will result in that union’s immediate dissolution into the private sector.

“People could have died because of the mini-mutiny ...”

Could? People did die, including a newborn baby.

Bloomberg should fire ALL the sanitation workers & hire a private company to do the sanitation work.

Then he should hold a press conference, & tell the other unions they will receive the same treatment if they pull such a stunt.

I realize this will happen shortly after pigs fly, but it is what SHOULD happen immediately.

Crawling in bed with unions is coming back to hurt NYC politicians real bad.

Coddling unions is about like feeding a pack of vicious dogs. Both will bite the hand that feeds them.

There are going to be a flood of lawsuits that will sue the city of New York over this.

I agree, but that only compounds the problem - they should not be suing the city (which means the taxpayers will have to pay out any settlements). SUE THE UNION and SUE INDIVIDUALS RESPOSIBLE.

But - they won't. The unions are too protected, more so than any other criminal (and they are criminal) enterprise on the planet.

They also won't sue individuals responsible. I remember what a trial lawyer told me decades ago: "You sue those with the deep pockets.....always."

That means "the city", and that means "you and me and every other taxpayer."

The time for uncivilized threats and criminal bullying, whether at the hands of an out-of-control, entitlement deluded political aristocracy, Chicago-school bone-thugs in the White House, or Union bosses and their ignorant punk-a$$-puppet minions, is over.

Unions should be outlawed. They are petri-dishes of corruption, they have bankrupted our States and corporations, made it impossible for us to compete head-to-head with foreign auto workers and other manufacturers, and they are now bent on stealing elections, astro-turf paid-for "protests", and general anti-American, anti-social delinquency.

Unions are as big a threat to America's future as are Islam and Socialism. All three of which must be eradicated, wiped from the four corners of this Nation, with extreme prejudice, if necessary. All three have openly declared war on the American way of life, and it's well past time we returned the favor, in spades.

It's simple. The reason the streets were not plowed is that there are too many toy guns on the street! We need even more gun control, and lots of it!

It’s time to decertify public service unions and make them unlawful.

That’s basically what Ronnie did to the air traffic controllers in ‘81 and, after all the moaning and whining was over, we were no worse off than before and RR had won himself a great deal of respect.

If that is what happens, the city should interplead them.

At least Bloomberg was finally able to convince the sanitation union thugs to clear the bicycle lanes on the Upper West Side:

I was reading my local paper, and they wrote that our local schools were given stacks of cash as part of Pelosi's recess August vote that gave away over $40 Billion to teachers unions.

$40 Billion - pi$$ed away on a single afternoon during a vote called when Congress was not even in session.

My 80 year old father (a Korea War vet) has not received a cost of living increase for 2 years. They froze the pay (for two years) of a GS-5 single mom secretary I worked with. I have several friends with families who are now out of work due to huge cuts in the Dept of Defense.

But, when it comes to giving it away to illegals, unions, the perpetually lazy, the "right" skin color, and thugs, Pelosi, Reid, and Obama used a steam shovel.

First of all, I’m not a lawyer.

I did see it done in Georgia in which case the defendant in a suit filed against a third party which they believed caused them liability.

Oh, I forgot to add one thing. Our local paper said that the schools didn't know what to do with the stacks of ca$h that were handed over in August. It didn't affect any teacher jobs for this year.

So now they are sitting on the stack of ca$h.

The only difference between the Democrats and a thief at the 7-11 is that they thief at the 7-11 uses a gun.
