A PRAYER OF PROTECTION
The light of God surround you The love of God enfold you The power of God protect you The presence of God watch over you Wherever you are, God is, And all is well. Amen.
BLESS THIS HOUSE Bless this house O Lord we pray; Make it safe by night and day;
Bless these walls so firm and stout, Keeping want and trouble out:
Bless the roof and chimneys tall, Let thy peace lie over all;
Bless this door, that it may prove ever open to joy and love.
Bless these windows shining bright, Letting in God's heav'nly light;
Bless the hearth a'blazing there, with smoke ascending like a prayer;
Bless the folk who dwell within, keep them pure and free from sin;
Bless us all that we may be Fit O Lord to dwell with thee;
Bless us all that one day we May dwell O Lord with thee.

If you have a "ping list" could you send it out for this little request on behalf of all our armed forces and veterans? I was ambling around town here in Miami FL these last few days and I have noticed quite a few flags flying over businesses (one a credit union) that are old, faded and tattered. I have sort of resolved to simply remind these businesses that the flag they fly is supposed to HONOR the country and her armed forces and flying old beat up flags does the EXACT polar opposite. I went inside the business and later e-mailed the corporate chain of command. Here is the reply I received:
Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We unreservedly apologize to you and your fellow servicemen for the unpleasant condition of the American Flag. It should be noted that the Branch Manager did report the issue to our Facilities Management Team, the very same day you spoke to her, for urgent attention.
Please be assured that senior management is currently taking all necessary steps to have the offensive flag replaced within the shortest time possible. We anticipate (given the holiday season) that replacement will take place within the first few days of weekending January 7, 2011.
We will keep you abreast and advised you once the flag is replaced.
Then I got a followup e-mail this evening that the flag had indeed been replaced and again asking forgiveness.
So as a sort of New Year's Resolution, (if you know of folks with ping lists, here) ask folks to take the time to really LOOK at the flags that fly over homes and businesses, especially businesses that represent the nation like Federal Credit Unions or banks or well whatever and if you see a flag that is in disgraceful shape, ask them NICELY to replace it and also not to just trash the old one but give it to the Boy Scouts or a veterans group for Honorable disposal (ritual burn).
Thanks, ExSoldier

Rearview Mirror Reflections
December 31, 2010
Ive always thought that you can see the hand of God best in the rearview mirror. Looking back, its easier to understand why He placed us in the home that He did; why He brought certain people and circumstances into and out of our lives; why He permitted difficulties and pain; why He took us to different places and put us in various jobs and careers.
In my own life, I get a lot of clarity (though not perfect claritythats heavens joy!) about the wise and loving ways of God as I reflect on the ways He has managed my journey by the works of [His] hands (Ps. 92:4). With the psalmist, it makes me glad and strikes a note of joy in my heart to see how often God has assisted, directed, and managed the outcomes so faithfully (Ps. 111).
Looking ahead, though, is not always so clear. Have you ever had that lost feeling when the road ahead seems twisted, foggy, and scary? Before you move into next year, stop and look in the rearview mirror of the year gone by, and joyfully realize that God meant it when He said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. So we may boldly say: The Lord is my helper; I will not fear (Heb. 13:5-6).
With the promise of Gods presence and help in mind, you can move ahead into 2011 with utmost confidence.
Shall not He who led me safely
Through the footsteps of this day
Lead with equal understanding
All along my future way? Adams
Gods guidance in the past gives courage for the future.
Read: Psalm 111
For You, Lord, have made me glad . . . ; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.
Psalm 92:4
