Actually, Bush Vetoed Bill with 'End-of-Life' Provisions
big government ^ | 12/29/10 | SusanAnne Hiller

I’m going to take the death panel end-of-life planning conundrum down one point at a time to make this very clear for Americans to understand what the Pelosi-led Democrats have done to your healthcare and their attempt to take cover under a Bush-era law–the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008.

The Hill reported that the Obama White House attempted to calm Americans’ fears of the dreaded death panels:

The Medicare policy will pay doctors for holding end-of-life-care discussions with patients, according to the Times. A similar provision was dropped from the new healthcare reform law after Republicans accused the administration of withholding care from the sick, elderly and disabled.

However, an administration spokesman said the regulation, which is less specific than the reform law’s draft language, is actually a continuation of a policy enacted under former President George W. Bush.

“The only thing new here is a regulation allowing the discussions … to happen in the context of the new annual wellness visit created by [healthcare reform],” Obama spokesman Reid Cherlin told The Wall Street Journal.

Oh No!
You can’t say anything good about George W Bush. If you do you’re a “Bushie”. Anybody who supported anything Bush did is a “Bushie”. So the lesson here is that Death Panels are good because Bush (and Bushies) opposed them.

So it would appear that Barry’s state run commie “media” lied to America again. Bush did not put the death panels in place as they are spinning to the American people in the garbage they are spewing on the boob tube.

I have a terminal illness. My doctor is from Pakistan. If he starts the end of life stuff with me, I will give him the plan of salvation.

The “end of life counseling” is not the death panel. The death panel is in the very logic of the bill. There will be a menu of treatments available to you, and if the treatment you need is not on the menu, you don’t get it. You and your doctor will have no input to whats on the menu; it will be written by a regulation writer who doesn’t know you. The menu will be based on your age, quality of life, and the cost of the treatment.

Thats the death panel. The regulation writers who define your treatment options get to decide whether you live or die (though they themselves may never know the consequences of what they write). Your doctor won’t tell you about treatments that aren’t available; he’ll tell you about the ones that are, and then he’ll tell you he’s done all he can. He’s done all he can within the menu of options available to you.

You have backed into the most powerful tool available to Sr. believers. Any discussion of euthenasia is sin in the eyes of God.

If your physician asks you to consider mortal sin as a resolution to your life ask him if that will offend God. Then you might remind him that the government has chosen to become the servant of satan.

That should shut him up.

President Bush stood steadfastly for LIFE throughout his Presidency.

We were very blessed to have him.

I first heard the spin that Bush was for Death Panels from that Libtard Kirsten Powers on Fox News. I thought something was up because she is always testing out spin on issues that the left is losing on. Within 2 days it was all over the MSM.

Bush vetoed it and we all know it. This would have been trotted out earlier if they thought it would work. There is no way to explain this away to the American people as hard as the Rats try.

“The “end of life counseling” is not the death panel.”

Right on the money again marron.

I think the mistake started with the New York Times, who never looked at the issue fairly because Obama must be protected at all costs, even though they printed his famous comments about his Grandma’s operation, surely an oversight. Since the paper was not interested in the truth about the Medicare death panels, they associated the counseling thing with it.

Anybody who supported anything Bush did is a “Bushie”. Wrong.

Anybody who supported everything Bush did, whether left or right, was a "Bushie." Fixed.

Lets not forget nor deny the difference.

Your “fix” is wrong. I’ve read enough from FReepers who use the term “Bushie” to know they hate anything, everything and anyone connected to the Bush administration.

It’s an insulting pejorative. Bush was a good man who made some mistakes but in calling people who supported him “Bushies” those name callers are casting their lots in with the folks over at DU.

I’ve read enough from FReepers.

List them here where someone was labeled a "Bushie" when talking ONLY about a Bush conservative policy/agenda/law/ruling/etc., and I will stand corrected. I have never seen any post under such circumstances but have seen plenty when someone is defending every last thing that Bush did.

I heard her say that, too. But when someone else on the panel said that Bush had vetoed it, she said "That's not true".

She is a POS and a liar, and is looooong overdue for another Megyn Kelly smackdown.
