Former Vice President Al Gore is picking a fight with Fox News over a year-old management memo that he says betrays a bias against global warming science.
"Fox News has consistently delivered false and misleading information to its viewers about the climate crisis," Gore wrote on his website. "The leaked e-mails now suggest that this bias comes directly form the executives responsible for their news coverage."
Gore was referring to a Dec. 8, 2009 memo attributed to Fox News' Washington Managing Editor Bill Sammon and posted by the liberal-leaning website Media Matters, according to The Hill newspaper. In the memo, Sammon wrote, "Given the controversy over the veracity of climate change data, we should refrain from asserting that the planet has warmed (or cooled) in any given period without IMMEDIATELY pointing out that such theories are based upon data that critics have called into question. It is not our place as journalists to assert such notions as facts."
Media Matters said the memo went out just after a Fox News correspondent reported that the United Nations World Meteorological Organization had said 2000 to 2009 was the warmest decade on record.
The prevailing view in the scientific community is that it's getting hotter -- and the warming is due to human activities such as energy production from coal-fired power plants. But there are dissenters, some of whom suggest that the warming is cyclical and not man-made.
"There's no legitimate debate," Gore insisted. "The planet is warming. Moreover, man-made global warming pollution is the principal cause."
Overall, the former vice president said, "the media's coverage of climate issues has been atrocious. However, Fox seems determined to set the bar even lower."
The Hill did not report any response from Fox News to Gore's remarks.
For Algore
Global Warming is red
The Planet is blue
Please pardon the carbon footprint
Of my New Michigan igloo
Given the fact that global warming is a theory due to the records being unavailable for most of mankind's history, due to the fact that many scientists believe that the emissions of just one volcano dwarf man-made emissions into insignificance, I'd say the memo is reasonable and takes a sensible approach to the question.
Given the fact that “green” jobs, “green” technology is not only cumbersome, often ineffective, expensive and can be detrimental to humans who are already vulnerable to starvation, I'd say the memo is quite acceptable..
Finally, given the fact that I find Al Gore's educational background deficient, his morals suspect, his carbon footprint outrageous and his bank account a great deal larger than either his aptitude or inheritance can explain, I'd say I'm going with Sammon. Y'all do as you please, though.
This guy has nothing left—not even his family. Anybody know where he calls home?
Media seem to be uninterested in giving us a blow-by-blow. If Algore was a conservative the story would go on forever—even if it meant manufacturing info to keep it alive.
Dan Rather: “It could have been true”. Don’t know when Rather actually went mad, but I wonder what NBC shelled out to keep him on the air and the secret.
Three things most people on this website don’t know about “CNN’s Gretta Van Sustren”:
She belongs to the Church of Scientology.
At her parent’s wedding, her best man was Joe McCarthy.
Her husband, John P. Coale, serves an advisor to Sara Palin.
You know, I wonder if Algore is 1) A complete idiot who rode his Daddy's coattails all the way to a shot at the presidency, then blew an election that likely could have been won if the Dems had run anyone else, up to and including a Wooden Indian, in his place.
Or 2) An incredibly shrewd conman who used his failed presidential run to build a sucker list of millions, which he then bilked to make himself very seriously rich.
I was leaning towards 1) for a long time. Now, I think it's 2).

RELEASE CHAKA!!
I just finished Michael Crichton’s ‘State of Fear’ last night, and knowing what had happened at East Anglia made it that much more interesting! Al just wants somebody to stroke his ‘chakra’.
What a dumbass.
Al, this isn’t a smoking gun. Far from it. Seems to me like Fox is making the right call.
He just recently admitted his Ethanol Hoax.
IF gore doesn’t shut his mouth, we’re going to freeze to death!
Al Gore can go intercourse himself. ManBearPig lives.

LMAO!
If there's anyone who should be considered the Manchurian Candidate it's Algore. He was carefully groomed for the Presidency by his Daddy who was totally beholden to Soviet toady Armand Hammer. Hammer led Gore senior by the nose into Soviet-friendly votes in the House and rewarded him with many things including a sweetheart deal on a valuable zinc mine which was passed on to Jr. and is still producing cash for Algore's political games.
IIRC the Venona cables positively identified Hammer as a Soviet courier who transferred cash from the USSR to the American Communist Party. The Gore-Hammer relationship was nasty business and there's more on it here: Gore & Hammer
Leaked emails? Since when can you rely on leaked emails?
To me this shows not bias but journalistic integrity something entirely lacking in the rest of the MSM who routinely report unproven theory or even patent fabrications as hard fact without checking.
“Is he still around? This guy is as dumb as a post.”
That was a serious insult to all posts. I’ve known a lot of posts that I know were a lot smarter than the Goron.
I can't stand this guy. Talk about "deniers".
