OWN shows include a talk show starring Rosie O'Donnell. Also projected is a new show with Ryan and Tatum O'Neil.
I thought the biggest news with this is the return of Rosie O'Donnell to daytime talk. Public opinion took her off the air, Oprah brought her back.
Note that most news items on this subject were of little value or from sites that we cant link to on FR.
Now there’s another TV network I do not want or will never watch.
Oh, boy.
My bowels are churning in anticipation.
I’d rather watch Hasselhoff.../s/
I can’t wait for Oprah to lose a fortune on this project $
I didn’t say it was good news. This has been supposed to happen for a couple of years now. No surprise that most OWN shows look like an infomercial for a kick in the crotch would be better viewing.
Great. A Fat Pervert with a big mouth gets a daytime tv show. Good I watch no daytime tv!!

I agree with you - after watching my last show on Discovery Health, I deleted it from my list of channels. Sure hope those mystery diagnosis shows are on a different channel in future!
Nothing like watching a fat Dyke who hates everything normal and a guy who hit on his daughter at Farrah Faucett’s funeral.
I just saw Sunday’s Parade mag with o all over it.
There’s a list of some of the garbage that will be
on. I have uverse and am trying to delete this station
from it.
May it be as wildly popular and successful as Air America.
I plan on showering my cable company with letters to try to insure they never pick up this POS.
unfortunately the stay at home mom lobby is big in this country and they watch trash like this and the most despicable ‘The View’. my chances are slim “Never underestimate the bad taste of the American public”?
These things are good; they clearly illustrate a divide in America that many ignore/deny. Americans can be divided into 2 camps: those that watch Oprah and those that don’t.
“Those that come through the door (looks at dead Mexicans in the doorway and crosses himself) and those that come through the window.”
Best movie of all time; today you would never be allowed to portray a Mexican the way Tuco Ramirez is played on that movie.
: )
Chris Rock said- “only dumb white women watch Oprah.”
Rest assured, Ms. Winfrey has (relatively) little of her own money invested in this project. Most of the cash is coming from the Discovery Networks, which is sinking a boatload into the Oprah Channel. Typical lib—do it with someone else’s money.
I will say this: starting the network was a shrewd move, even if she made it about a decade too late. Ratings for her over-the-air talk show have been sinking for a decade, and shows like “Judge Judy” routinely beat Oprah in the ratings. Against that reality, there was no way that her syndicator (and the local Oprah affiliates) were going to give her another deal for the kind of money she’s been pulling in. So, go raid the cable cookie jar and keep cashing their checks as long as you can.
My prediction (as a recovering broadcaster): OWN limps along for five years or so and burns through tons of money, without making much of a dent in the cable ratings. At that point, Ms. Winfrey will announce her retirement and OWN will be repackaged as something else—about six months after Oprah leaves the airwaves.
Discovery made its mark as an outlet for interesting (but low-cost) documentaries and reality series. OWN is something entirely different for them, and it’s almost guaranteed to fail. The Oprah brand has lost its luster. The question is how much money Discovery is willing to lose on the venture before pulling the plug.
One more thing: the broadcast stations that aired Oprah will actually be better off (in most cases) without her. Some have already signed up for cheaper syndicated shows, or plan to replace her with local newscasts. Those going to local route can actually make more money, because they won’t be paying astronomical program fees and if they air their own product, they can keep all of the advertising revenue.
