True that...they’d have to be NUTS to volunteer to get up
before the sun. LOL!
Of course, the sun comes up earlier here than it does there in
the winter. LOL!

Here's one for you. I posted it for Kathy and LUV last night. It's Brahms attempt at a Christmas song from a text by poet Emmanuel Geibel.

It's worth it. Service to North Station is frequent and reliable.
When the Baltimore Consort made their only West Coast appearance in Vancouver in 1998, I took the train there from Seattle and spent the night. It was a good trip and a great concert.

Hugs back.
The vocal line is Geibel's poem, and the viola line is a completely different German Christmas carol. You have to be pretty good to do that.

Schubert's "Ave Maria" has the official title of "Ellen's Song #2". It's from Walter Scott's "Lady of the Lake", translated into German by Adam Storck.
It was never a setting of the "Hail Mary", although the Latin has been fitted to the song over time.

Here's one for you. Schubert set the 23rd Psalm to music for women's chorus, in German from Luther's Bible. The piano accompaniment is kept in the higher register so that it sounds like a harp and the chorus sounds like angels. At the two minute mark, he goes into A-flat minor (7 flats) for the valley of the shadow of death. And listen to how he extricates himself from the valley.
