Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) said Tuesday that he expects that a new nuclear arms treaty with Russia will likely get 70 votes for ratification, with a final vote slated for Wednesday afternoon.
Kerry made the remarks at a joint news conference with Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) following the Senate's 67-to-28 vote to end debate on the START treaty. Five senators were not present for Tuesday's vote, including three -- Sens. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) and Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) -- who have previously signaled their support. That puts the tentative number of votes in favor of the treaty at 70, well over the two-thirds threshold needed for ratification.
"I would say to you that in today's Washington, in today's Senate, 70 votes is yesterday's 95," Kerry said to laughter. "I feel pretty good about where we've gotten to, and we're going to continue, obviously, to have a robust debate and we look forward to the Senate doing what it does best, which is a really important, thoughtful debate about our national security concerns."

Traitors all!!
Then, the Senate will try the DREAM act one more time on Thursday, this time with the nuclear option.
America Surrenders!!! Hanoi Boi John “Horseface” Kerry proud of America for the first time in his adult life! Says he wishes Ho Chi Minh was still alive to help him celebrate!
Call Mitch McConnell’s office he is after all susposedlly IN CONTROL of his senators. Remind them of NOVEMBER and we are taking names and recording votes of GOP breaking their oath of office and siding with bambi.

OK, wait for 2 weeks when the House GOP takes over.
I guess we lost the election.
How many have actually READ this piece of crap “surrender US security” treaty...?
I would imagine that very few have even read the preamble, which is enough to find that this is very dangerous for us.
But to cap it off - the agreement called for Russia to end all aid to Iran’s nuclear program. But since the agreement received signatures, Russia has helped Iran fuel and crank up reactors.
Further - it contains ZERO mechanisms to verify anything on the Russian side, and saddles ALL US development of defensive measures with Russian weapons development. So if Russia claims to not build any more/new weapons, then the US can’t invest in, develop, or deploy additional defensive systems. But Russia is not the only threat - with the Norks (Dorks?) and their crappy missiles, Iran developing their own, China’s inventory, etc.... why would anyone with the common sense given to a slug tie our defense only to Russia (without any means of verification of Russia’s systems or development)?
Again, the Libs prove that their primary focus - from the economy to our national defense - is quite obviously the systematic destruction of the USA.
And far too many “Republicans” are happy to go along for the ride.
What is the point of elections?
I am not holding my breath that the returned CONgress after the break (complete with supposed Republican majority in the House) will do anything differently than they did when the Repubs had majority in both houses not-so-long ago...
Politicians make me sick.
I could have sworn the GOP said they would govern different?
We will remember. I will work tirelessly to boot the RINO Burr (NC) for his DADT vote, and I will do the same for the jerks that vote for START. There are some mighty DEAF RINOs out there...
America weeps.
America lost long before the recent election. This is just proof positive that elections mean nothing, that politicians will do whatever the heck they want to get their own advantage (AKA - line their own pockets and/or take a dump on the Constitution).
Sometimes, you have to flush TWICE!
The House has absolutely nothing to do with ratifying a treaty. If the Senate ratifies this crap it (along with whatever is hidden in it) becomes the supreme law of the land.
Dammit. We win a historic victory in the election and they piss on our values, let homos serve in the military and make sweetheart deals with our enemies.
I guess next time we’ll have to show a lot more Republicans what a shellacking feels like.
Correction - I guess we lost the Country.
The American people lost the election by voting for the same RINOS who have brought our country down to wreck and ruin by allowing the Democrats to push them around like Mohamed Ali playing around with a college level boxer. I sent the following email to Sen Isakson, who I refuse to address as "my" Senator.
"I am very disappointed to learn that you appear to have have fallen into line behind the Obama bandwagon and now intend to vote for what I am convinced is the very dangerous START treaty. I believe that the great majority of GA's voting citizens oppose START, and many more would as well if they understood the ramifications of that treaty and the danger it poses to our own nation. In previous years I have voted for you in every primary and general election in which I was qualified to vote. However if you carry out your stated intention to vote for confirmation of what I consider to be a seriously flawed and disadvantageous treaty negotiated by an anti-national defense, inexperienced, inept, ultra-liberal president in order to appease his far-left anti-American voter base, I am saddened to say that I cannot continue to do so in future elections."
I have never trusted Isakson, but he seemed to have become more sensitive to his voters' desires in recent months. But now he stabs us in the back, and I should have known he would. If he runs again I will vote for his opponent in the primary, and if he's nominated I will either refrain from voting or vote for his opponent, depending on who that might be. I don't know how Chambliss intends to vote, but I will also disavow him if he votes for confirmation.
