Saturday night, December 18, 2010, Jim floated the idea of forming a political action committe to organize an effort to defeat the RINOs in the upcoming 2012 and 2014 Congressional elections.
"Yup, I do believe its time. We need to organize an anti-RINO PAC and get it going in all 57 states to support and elect True God and Country Conservatives. We can do it!! FReeperPAC is born!"

Many FReepers expressed interest in helping with the PAC, posted research/resources, made relevant suggestions, offered advice, etc. It's time to move that effort to its own thread.
Please continue you contributons here. If you posted important information to the other thread, please consider re-posting it here. You will not automatically be added to the FReeper PAC ping list. You must request to be added if you want to receive pings to important updates.

Having a plan is a good plan! (=
I think there is a tendency to jump to a conclusion.
Sarah's on Facebook. So we jump to the conclusion that FR should have a Facebook button. Even before we thoroughly understand the implications of running Facebook scripts on FR, or, for that matter, why would a "anti-homo agenda, Constitutionalist organization" want to swamp the site with half-a-million young, leftist drones more in tune with democraticunderground anyway?
We see that George Soros funnels money through PACs, (and Sarah has a PAC) so hey! We should have a PAC too! And then figure out what we want it to do.
Backwards!
I think we're best suited to reassess our SWOT chart first, then figure out what to maximize. Add your thoughts?!

One thing the "RINO hunting" biz is lacking these days is a "tracker."
Sure we get worked up at critical bill-passing time, but we need something like Nachum's List of Barack's awfuls to be able to document opposition....and frankly, to decide who's been naughty and nice! That's something FR is well suited to do without any changes.
I’m in agreement with your expressed thoughts. I too am sick of compromising with liberals and so called moderates.
Wait, we haven’t decided to create a PAC. Jim floated the idea. Now we’re discussing it. We haven’t done anything backwards. We’re attempting to define our goals and in doing so, we’ll discover whether or not we need a PAC or just political action items carried out by FReepers.

Please add me to the list.
Merry Christmas !
Utah Binger would like to be added.
Correct.
Tracking RINOs would be a primary function of this project. We have a short list. (It was on the othe thread.)
I made the suggestion (on the other thread) that we research the voting history of our targets and then, near their primaries, write an article (Kristinn, myself and other writers) detailing the ways each RINO has betrayed conservatism. Then publish those articles on other websites (The Blaze, Big Jounalism, Big Government, American Thinker, etc.) , mail them to registered voters in the RINOs’ home districts, include them as letters to the editors in major newspapers, etc.
I didn’t get a response (that I recall,) but I think that could be one effective way to target RINOs without having to raise substantial money.
Your thoughts?
Courtesy ping to #121.
Hey! I'm not criticizing you!
I'm just saying there were a hundred or so posts of "sign me up!" and "count me in!" and scant few about WHAT/HOW.
I like "Pitchfork Action Committee" as a name! But really, I'm not sure that marching on Washington does anything but strengthen the inside-the-beltway focus. And raising more money to inject into the same rotten system just sounds awful.
Gives the left a way to discount us by saying, "ha! they only got 80,000 people" or "cash-strapped FRPAC missed its fundraising goals" or whatever.
What I also see on FR is a lot...I mean A LOT... of brass balls talking the talk about real pitchforks and "Washington is about to push too far," and FMCDH and all that hollow BS. Not a single Freeper is going to, nor has raised a violent fist against Washington. Nobody really supports flying airplanes into IRS buildings in Austin, nor will JimRob allow such to be on FR.
However, we can "atttack" the monster in nonviolent ways. One REAL direct action is to "Go Galt." Stop paying federal taxes, stop working above the fold if necessary.
If 100,000 people did that in each state there would be no debate about getting Washington's attention. You'd have it.
But let's face it. The original tea-partiers were wanted by the state as criminals.
We're not even talking about non-violent action.
Instead we're talking about potentially merging into the corrupt system!
No, no. I didn’t take anything as a criticism. I’m pretty thick-skinned. If I’m offended, I’ll just shout it out. The purpose of this thread is discusson. Carry on. Excellent points being made.
Tex
ABSOLUTELY PERFECT.
I think the more original reporting FR does the better. Few others are really doing it either.
FR has one of the longest persistence hit stats of any site, iirc. More people constantly hitting FR for updates.
Freepers often have lots of time, little money, and internet access!
Sounds like perfect ingredients for original digging/logging.
Two from Alabama to add to the hit list: Sen. Richard Shelby and Rep. Mike Rogers. There’s a few up north, too, who are not good. Let me hunt them up.
Oh yes! Please ADD me to the ping list.
Also, I can help now with some of the organization and contact here in central Alabama and some into GA.
OH YEAH! Count me in!
Please add me to the ping list.
I would like to be added to the ping list and I can contribute my political and fund-raising experience.
I too am concerned that a poor fundraising effort will weaken the effectiveness of FRPAC.
I am heartened by so much interest in participation, but somewhat discouraged (at the moment) by the lack of specific offers of help.
However, I have gotten a couple of freepmails offering help in putting together a website for FReeper PAC and specific suggestions from experienced PAC leadership.
We have a couple of goals identified but very little in the way of ideas. How should we target the RINOs we’ve identified? We need concrete ideas.
I am researching how to organize a PAC and with Red Steel will do the comparison of other PACs that he suggested. But ... the summary that I need to write for the group will be insufficient if we don’t know what we want to accomplish and how.
There are a host of critical issues for any PAC to consider. The obvious practical issues have to be the specific planks, or platforms the PAC is for. I must have a clear message and a defined goal. The next practical issue is who runs this PAC. There is a legal necessity of banking, collection of funds, mailing lists, and exactly how our message gets out. Somebody has to run it.
I especially like the second one :o)
What about maybe also a ghost-poster for each targeted rino?
For example. Open an account for “RINO-LindsayGraham”
Let a sidebar_moderator/group manage that account. The “shame list” will be kept on his FR homepage, and the moderator can post “in_forum” his various quotes and votes on the appropriate threads.
For example
To: RINO_LindsayGraham; RINO_LIST; All;
GOOD VOTE: Voted NAY on S.510 Food Safety Bill S.510
But appears to have only done it in exchange for......etc
