“The word ‘minority’ from our standpoint should mean African American. I don’t think women, Asians and Hispanics should be able to use that title,” he said. “That’s why our numbers cannot improve — because we use women, Asians and Hispanics who are not people of color, who are not people who have been discriminated against.”
Hours after making those remarks, Meeks back-tracked by saying he would only exclude white women if elected mayor. The set-aside program currently earmarks 25 percent of all city contracts for minorities and 5 percent for companies owned by women.
“I don’t believe white women should be considered in that count ….You have white women in the category. They receive contracts. Then, white men receive contracts. Where does that leave everybody else?” he told Fox-owned WFLD-Channel 32 news.

I actually have no problem with all that stuff. It's their show/college/ceremony, they ought to be able to make it about whatever they want. It's the hypocrisy that pisses me off.
Everytime I see one of those I want to make an equivalent "white" one, and stick my thumb in their eye when they come around to complain. Sauce...goose...gander, you get the idea.
But the point isn't that it's a desirable thing. The point is that if whites couldn't get away with it, no one else should be able to either.
If the President doesn't have to prove he is a citizen and still gets to live in the White House, fly in Air Force One, and plot to ruin anything that still works in the country, the least they can do is give you a jet that's as good as Air Force One. And reparations for killing the rest of your tribe.
What about ugly people. I am looked down upon all my life because I am ugly.

I am ugly and I want minority contracts because of it.
Minority contracts should not even exist. All contracts should go to the companies that can do the best job at the most reasonable price. Taxpayers deserve no less and should demand no less.
I'll hire you to go sit in the Oral Office.
“Just what is a black?”
Specifically, it is a descendant of a West African slave.
“Exactly what years did black discrimination exist, and exactly on what date did it end?”
Slavery ended with the surrender of the Confederacy in the US Civil War, After that time, Blacks, that is descendant’s of West African slaves were subject to legal differentiation for admission to schools, voting, housing and employment. These were not subtle prejudices - this was the law of the land in many states and communities.
These laws of were all voided by the Civil rights act of 1964, which formed the basis for “set aside” and affirmative action policies.
and yes - the discriminatory laws of which were the target of the civil rights act of 1964 were specifically exhibited against blacks.
The point here is not that such “set asides” and “affirmative action” initiatives are beneficial or desirable - they are demonstrably not. In fact, they tend to perpetuate the divisions they seek to mend. But, the intended target of this ill conceived “benefit” was “Blacks” that is, the descendents of west african slaves that endured slavery and institutionalized discrimination.
Hispanics, Asians, Women, or Pacific Islanders have never been the victims of institutionalized discrimination in this country, yet they’ve gladly jumped on the “victim bandwagon” and until now, Blacks have usually welcomed the company. The more “victim classes” the more “lib votes”.
All of these “victim” classes have been free loading off of the struggles of Black people for decades now. Just like gays are trying to compare DADT to banning or segregating blacks in the military. It’s about time some black guy spoke up and said, “Hey, fight your own battle.”
...and I just can’t help getting a kick out of lib victims classes fighting a turf war.
