Rachel Maddows Anger At U.S. Senate: Game Over For Support From Obama Base?
by Colby Hall | 10:22 am, December 17th, 2010
Last night the U.S. Senate voted on a bill that will extend the current Tax Cuts first put into place by President Bush after Senator Harry Reid appeared to capitulate to the threat of a Republican filibuster. This appeared to frustrate, if not anger MSNBCs Rachel Maddow last night, and not only because it messed up the rundown of her show. It understandably irked the self-described progressive because it was just another example of, as she put it, this phenom of passing bills in the house only to see it die in the Senate.
Maddow ran trough a litany of examples where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was successful in moving legislation consistent with both Obamas and the progressive agenda forward through the House, only to see it die in the U.S. Senate. Then Maddow made very clear the stakes put forth by Senator Reids consistent surrender to the GOP:
With the endless obstructions and delay tactics. The margins that Democrats have over Republicans has been equal. Things have died in the Senate, not because Democrats didnt have the votes. They had the votes. The senate broke. Without President Obama recognizing that is the U.S. Senate and acknowledging it is a broken institution that may be should be fixed, its sort of game over in terms of the rest of his agenda. Its therefore sort of game over for his support from his base. Especially with a whole slew of Republicans on their way to Washington in January.

Don't say it if you don't mean it.
Rachel who?
Geez, when this is all over will just his black base support his sorry ass?
Rachael, the Senate "may be should be fixed" in November 2012, and so will the White House. Just hang on.
I guess that should also apply to the SCOTUS and any other constitutional entity that doesn't serve her agenda....
Mike
Yeah, I hear ya. They can bitch and moan all they want but lord knows that they aren’t voting for any Repubs in his place. Just say two words to a lib and it will send them back into Obumble’s waiting arms: Sarah Palin.
I am saying this as a huge Palin fan who plans on only voting for her, whether she is on the ballot, or not.
Now that’s laugh out loud funny.
Just wait ‘till January 6th. :)
No, it will still be all the atheists, union pinky-rings, welfare grandmothers, abortion enthusiasts, condom-throwers, Boy Scout-hating lesbians, hand-wringing college professors, Hollywood drunks, and all the rest of the America-hating parasites, losers, "victims", and goofballs who comprise the Democrat party base.
I’m sure Madcow would be in favor of Barry packing the Supreme Court with another three members of his choosing as she considers it broken too.
Broken record. This guy is going to get his buddies on the bandwagon again in two years.
I like this guy Madcows haircut, does anyone know his barber?
Where can they get someone further to the left than Obama?
Mao is dead. And Fidel Castro is too old. Hugo Chavez is Obama’s buddy, so I don’t think he’d relocate.
I think he works out of the longshoremen's union hall.
I dunno. Guys that angry tend to do poorly at the local watering hole. Maybe a little Prozac, clean him up a bit, introduce him to a couple of really tolerant, understanding girls and hope for the best.
Ya,Got’em all!!
