Bradley Manning's Prison Hell
Daily Beast ^ | December 17, 2010

Posted on 12/17/2010 6:53:47 AM PST by La Lydia

The last time Bradley Manning saw the world outside of a jail, most Americans had never heard of WikiLeaks. On Friday, Manning, the man whose alleged unauthorized release of hundreds of thousands of classified documents put the website and its controversial leader, Julian Assange, on the map, turns 23 behind bars. Since his arrest in May, Manning has spent most of his 200-plus days in solitary confinement...his attorney, David Coombs, revealed key details about Manning’s imprisonment and kind gestures from his family that provided a bit of comfort in the inmate's otherwise extremely harsh incarceration....

Manning asked for a list of books, which his family bought for him... Decision Points, by George W. Bush Critique of Practical Reason, by Immanuel Kant Critique of Pure Reason, by Immanuel Kant Propaganda, by Edward Bernayse The Selfish Gene, by Richard Dawkins A People’s History of the United States, by Howard Zinn The Art of War, by Sun Tzu The Good Soldiers, by David Finkel On War by Gen. Carl von Clausewitz

Manning is being held at Marine Corps Base Quantico, in Virginia. He spends 23 hours a day alone in a standard-sized cell, with a sink, a toilet, and a bed. He isn’t allowed sheets or a pillow, though First Lieutenant Brian Villiard, an officer at Quantico, said he is allowed bedding of “non-shreddable” material...

For an hour every day, a television is wheeled in front of his cell and he’s allowed to watch TV, including news...

The conditions under which Bradley Manning is being held would traumatize anyone...He lives alone in a small cell, denied human contact. He is forced to wear shackles when outside of his cell, and when he meets with the few people allowed to visit him, they sit with a glass partition between them...

LOL, we’ll see if this sexy man of a man(/s) will have the junk to release files from Russia. I will not hold my breath because of his going into hiding from the U.S.

Let Sheriff Joe deal with him in Maricopa County for awhile... of course, he might like the pink stuff he’ll have to wear.

He was an OOB puke (Order of Battle analyst). They take everyone else’s hard work, put their name on it, and call it their ‘product’.

And a firing squad is only for soldiers. This swisher should swing from a short rope.

That was my initial suspicion - did he have a “lover?” Somebody had to give him access - no one is going to do that without a quid pro quo.

The other traitorous mole is still serving, IMHO.

I can’t believe someone hasn’t lit a fire under the Army about this.

Right, a waste of valuable rounds. But still, how is it possible for his job description to include access to

EMBASSY and STATE DEPARTMENT communications??????????

Gotta be some more to this. BIG TIME!

MI is only 3 miles north of here...BTW

You aren’t the only one wondering just how in the heck this traitor had apparently unrestricted access to nearly everything Secret and below. That wasn’t allowed in my time. And anyone trying to do such a thing would have been found out in a hurry.

The MI in my screen name stands for military intelligence (or Mushrooms Incorporated; or Mexican Infantry. We had as much fun with MI as anyone else!). I was a signals intelligence analyst (98C, now 35N under the new CMF) in my time in the US Army, with a side of cryptology.

MI cool. I knew one in Texas that said Military Intelligence was (stop me if you've heard this) an OXYMORON! hahahahaha

Serioiusly, are we really in this much doodoo? If this jerk got away with this, imagine what a well-trained and serious Russian mole could do. Already DID, I'll bet.

We are in the hands of the enemy. Just add SALT, and it's over.

Old joke, but generally true ;-)

When we were attacked on 9/11, the great complaint was there was too much stovepiping of intel. Access was too controlled. So now we have whipsawed too far in the other direction. I couldn’t imagine being able to do what this traitor was able to do. Intel, soup-to-nuts, all on one terminal. And then he has storage media with him that he was allowed to take in and out of the SCIF without interference. Just wow.

I don’t doubt that we are riddled with spies that have access to all our secrets. The proccess seems to have broken down.

The Daily Beast is heavily populated with angry individuals you identified so no one there would have noticed.

I'd like to know how a PFC with seven years’ service (that in itself is weird) had access to highly classified documents. Who the hell was his CO ?

He's also been out of the DADT closet for some time. He should have been discharged under the law. He wasn't. Had his commander followed the law, Wikileaks would have never received the classified materials.

His commander should be court-martialed for not upholding the law as he was sworn to do.

I think he deserves some mercy.

Give him about 8 foot of room and a book of knots.
