Police: Store owner kills three suspects (Houston jewelry store)

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police say a store owner shot and killed three suspects during an attempted robbery of his jewelry store.

Police were called to Castillo Jewelry on Canal Street and North Hagerman Street around 2pm after two customers had entered the store inquiring about some jewelry. A third customer entered with a gun, then stated it was a robbery.

The two customers then pulled guns and pushed the owner's wife to a back room, tying her up. As they tried to force the owner back as well, the owner was able to pull a handgun and shoot and kill one robber. He then pulled a shotgun that killed the remaining two suspects.

I just wanted to chime in to mention that anyone who has not gone to the link and watched the video, absolutely SHOULD.

Everyone, the investigators, neighbors, even the reporter was totally on his side...saying he “saved his wife” and that he did what needed to be done.

My favorite was at the end, when the lady says something along the lines of “well, maybe others will learn from this.”

What a nice change of pace from the cooperate with the robbers/call the police pablum that we are fed daily. Prayers up for the victim, the video says he is in “fair” condition.

Police are looking for a possible fourth suspect who may have dropped off the third robber at the jewelry shop. That man never got out of his car. He is described as Hispanic

I wonder if it will turn out that the dead thugs were illegal aliens... the operative word being "were", lol.

All three robbers were fatally wounded, investigators said. Police have not released their names, but said they were all from Honduras.

Two of the suspects have been identified. Police say Nelson Ramiro, 21, had a Honduran identification card. Onilton Castillano, 38, was reportedly the first to be killed. He's believed to be the suspect who tied up the owner's wife. The third suspect has not been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
