Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops.
Staff have been ordered to take down decorations and to remove any other signs of the Christian festival because they could offend Moslems.
The charity's politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night - from Christians and Moslems.
Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.
'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.
'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'
Mrs Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree.
' I think the policy is offensive to Moslems as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.'

***My late father was a WWII veteran - he and many of his friends from the same era despised the Red Cross.***
My mom said the same thing about them during WWII.
They worked their butts off knitting socks and donoating to the RC. Then word came back from the soldiers that much of the stuff was going to behind the lines officers and when a RC person brought doughnuts to the front line infantry, each soldier received 1/4 of a doughnut.
My dad says they used to make them pay for the coffee and donuts -- while the Sally Anns gave it out for free.
it was a urban legend and never happened. the Salvation Army keeps it alive today to raise funds
The Salvation Army has been my choice since I came back from nam in 67.
Will they be changing the name of their organization to the “Red Scimitar and the green Moon”?
Well, scratch RC off my giving list forever. If one faction of the organization believes this tripe, it is infested in all to some degree. Screw them.
I would guess that this is expired or unused blood.
Just imagine if THE PUBLIC really knew the truth about the JUNK they plaster on their bodies, and what it comes from.
I don't know if it would stop them, even the PETA types.
They seem to believe that 'everything' they use/consume/eat comes from some sterile factory and that there are no animals involved.

According to the article the British Red Cross is a member of the ICRC out of Geneva. The ICRC is a mewling, cowardly organization that should not receive the report of anyone or any body. It has a long history of caving to Islamist despots (e.g., Bashir and the Sudan).
Reminder to self: No more contributions to Red Cross, EVER.
Needy muslims go to Christian charities for help. Both here and in the ME.
After my dad a WW2 Vet told me they charged him for coffee and donuts, I never gave them a dime until 911, then they pull that garbage and I knew they’d never, ever see another dime of my money. Their top people make 6 figures.
