ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Two groups of scientists are suggesting a sliver of hope for the future of polar bears in a warming world.
A study published online Wednesday rejects the often used concept of a "tipping point," or point of no return, when it comes to sea ice and the big bear that has become the symbol of climate change woes. The study optimistically suggests that if the world dramatically changed its steadily increasing emissions of greenhouse gases, a total loss of critical summer sea ice for the bears could be averted.
Another research group projects that even if global warming doesn't slowa more likely near-future scenarioa thin, icy refuge for the bears would still remain between Greenland and Canada.

When it is warmer the artic can only support so many Polar Bears..
When it is cooler (more ice) it can support more Bears..
Course you would have to PimP SLAP a number of "scientists" to get them to grasp that..
The warming in December and January is going to be pretty bad though. Our pipes will warm solid, our old people will be frozen to death by heat-stroke and so on. We didn't listen!
I'm not worried so much about the weather. I worry about the irreparable damage the cold - sorry, make that the unseasonal warmth - will do to the psyches of those in my company who rely on work in 'sustainable transport', LOL.
Polar Bear populations have increased four-fold in the last 50 years.
11 of 13 known populations are thriving and only 2 have fewer numbers over the last 10 years.
These enviro-whackos are making stuff up and expect us to believe it.
Love it. Hehehee.
and those 2 populations were around Baffin where it was coldest!
between the years 800 and 1200 AD there were as something called the Medieval Warm Period...which warmer than it is now (followed by the little ice age caused by the maunder minimum). during that time enough of Greenland was exposed as to make agriculture possible along the southern coast of Greenland, which can not be done today because of the colder temps today...
My question is, where did the Polar Bears go back then?
It is not too late for them to freeze to death. Global cooling is going on.
Yo, SYF:
I’ve been trying to get my climate treatment (CACA) to Monckton (he seems like the kind of guy who would get a kick out of it).
Does he have a website? The only thing I find is the vicarious WattsUp site.
Got any ideas?
Aw, man, not this shit again.
Great, cause I really want a rug.
Those poor bears. We should send them a fatted AlGore for Christmas.
LLS
Plenty of ice for the bears in the offing.
That was before Darwin, so they hadn't evolved yet.
We’ve got pictures, carry on.
The evil enviro scum is nopt that concerned with Manatees (sea cows) in Florida freezing to death.
They used to get hotter water from powerplant discharge into canals which kept it nice and warm in the winter for the manatees. the power plants were forced to cool their water and the manatees are not freezing to death.
Corrupt leftist scum.
Scummy liberal newspapers and ALL of TV using that same “iconic” sh** in every article. Everything today is “iconic” - lazy propagandists.
OMG, that’s hilarious on so many levels!
