Bill OReilly recently talked with frequent Fox News guest Charles Krauthammer to handicap potential GOP candidates chances in the 2012 presidential election. Krauthammer called Mitt Romney the front-runner and said Mike Huckabee has established himself as a major player but his most dissected comments will probably be his remarks on one Sarah Palin.
Krauthammer compared Palins problem to Hillary Clintons in the late 1990s strong support from her core base, virulent opposition from most others. OReilly asked if the level of opposition to Palin is the medias fault, and while Krauthammer said theyve contributed enormously and that the animus to her is unprecedented, he also allowed that she is not practiced in policy and that the infamous Katie Couric interview was not a gotcha interview. According to Krauthammer, Palins growth in mastering policy issues will shape her fate:
I think if you want to expand your base, you have to get into policy even though it sounds dull.

And the same with his lack of critcism as it happened of obama over accusing doctors of greedily amputating feet for $30,000. Krauthammer sat docilely by when obama misquoted Winston Churchill during the press conference. Go back and look at the video of krauthammer’s strange gleeful triumphal reaction when the news broke that the healthcare bill was going to be passed, when he gushes and declares that healthcare bill would never be repealed and that it would change things forever re government and creeping socialism. Does that really impress your ass? Is that your idea of a conservative thinker and opinion maker?
He is correct and is acknowledging the perceived but correctable weakness.
She has her work cut out for her and is obviously hard at it every day. She is now a professional candidate with the job of getting elected. The wisdom of Krauthammer will be taken as given......constructively.
Your childishness must be because you can’t win an argument.
I am surprised that you are allowed to continue on around here.
Your level of discourse is shameful. It is an embarrassment.
Well, so much for Chuck being the smartest guy in the room.
Lol, he's not Christian either and will gladly tell ya.
If Palin gets elected POTUS I will eat a bug right here on FR. I get to pick the bug.
That is a legitimate argument, not the one thrown out by NeoCon pundits that she is not smart enough. I am very socially conservative and a stout southern traditionalist and most older white males here like me adore Sarah Palin but I am smart enough...if you will...to realize that what has happened here is not a groundswell for my America's way of thinking but rather a yearning for correcting course over taxes and financial matters and a distaste for far left government all combined with a fear that folks playing footsie with Islam are in charge.
How we navigate the next two years before 2012 is uncertain but getting Sarah Palin or any other culture war type elected will not be done running on culture war issues alone or that being the heaviest emphasis. It simply does not sell with the mushy middle or younger people and least of all just about any minority except a handful.
Even Magnus did not win running on traditional values per se but folks knew where he stood...that is the course Sarah must pursue in my view.
Someone who spouts what I believe non stop would be unelectable since 1856.
“Gee, I wonder why you didnt include the actual transcript of 7-22-09, the actual date of the press conference and the actual date that krauthammer, immediately concluding the obama press conference, warbled and slurped about how brilliant and masterful he thought obama was?” “Charles praised os performance not for os command of the subject, but for os ability to BS for up to an hour.”

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2300526/posts I love listening to Krauthammer on the Hugh Hewitt Show. He is right. That press conference was a complete fraud.

Krauthammer can be very droll in his comments sometimes - he seems to be praising something when he is actually trashing it.
See the link below for his comments on Fox immediately following the presser.

Very nice!!
"The Candidate" and "Broadcast News"
Both IMHO show how a candidate is processed, packaged and sold like toothpaste; the other how the Lords of Information not only show the masses what they want them to see, but also tell them what to think about it.
My plea to everyone would be, wherever the facts lead us, that's the way it is.
Thank you for brave and sober thinking.
RE SP, I think she may be a little to the right of GWB (not enough for me) but good vigorous debate leading up to 2012 is not a bad thing--stay thirsty my friend!
That's a real good question and observation.
Personally, her voice does get to me once in awhile.
I'll take commonsense and real life experience over policy wonkery any day.
BTW, would it be too much to ask to have some real examples of Palin's supposed policy ignorance? The PDS crowd's fixation on her anamorphic deficiencies is as tiring as the COP crowd's defense of every and any move she makes not matter how bone headed, like a reality show.
Clyde,
I should have read all the posts to the end, because I would have just agreed with your post since you made the same point first(re CK telling SP to leave the room, then his plagiarizing her).
"Doze founding fathers theat caused this great nation to be so darn good an special even though they had bad times an remember that they were constitution lovers like Reagan an famly too. I thank god for the freedom that like Ronnie Reagan with lower taxes made states rights drill again!"
Do you have a link for your quote?
I wasn’t aware that she had not answered the questions that Fox News has asked her?
