Though the 1983 movie “Christmas Story” did not make much of an impression when it was initially released, it has since become a perennial holiday favorite with families across the country, as we are not only treated to Ralphie’s hilarious quest to obtain a Red Ryder BB gun, but as the film reminds all of us of our own childhood memories of Christmases past.
While most of us are familiar with the cult classic, many may not know the tragic way in which the director of “Christmas Story,” Bob Clark, died…He was killed by an illegal alien drunk driver.
On April 4, 2007, as the 65-year-old director traveled along Pacific Coast Highway with his son, Ariel Hanrath-Clark, 22, an SUV veered into oncoming traffic and resulted in a head-on collision with Clark’s vehicle. Both father and son died at the scene.
The driver of that SUV was Hector Velazquez-Nava, a Mexican national living in Los Angeles. He had 0.24 blood-alcohol level—three times the legal limit.
The illegal alien had no driver’s license and had a prior conviction for solicitation of a prostitute in Los Angeles, in 2004. For that conviction, Velazquez-Nava was sentenced to 24 months probation and a $1,500 fine. Of course, Los Angeles does not report illegal aliens to federal authorities unless they are arrested for a major crime.
On October 16, 2007, Hector Velazquez-Nava was sentenced to six years in prison after pleading no contest on two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is supposed to be deported once his sentence is completed.
It is important that all of us understand the devastating impact that illegal immigration is having on this country, and particularly upon those families who have lost loved ones due to the criminal actions of illegal aliens. It is equally important to understand that the lawmakers and various public officials whose inaction in removing those illegal aliens, are every bit as responsible for those deaths as the illegal aliens who get behind the wheel drunk everyday in this country.
As you and yours enjoy that Christmas classic this year, think about the man who brought you that movie and his broken family.

I believe the movie is set in the late 30’s/early 40’s shortly after the Wizard of Oz was released. That is probably the tie-in.

I listen to Chicago Police Calls over an online scanner, like right now. The freq I listen to covers the entire city of Chicago. And I listen a lot, all weekend waking hours and 4 hrs weekdays. And from what I hear it seems like 50% of ALL 'fender benders' are now the "Hit and Run" variety. These 'runners' would be illegals as in IL they can't - 'legally - get a DL or auto insurance.
Natch, Chicago is a sanctuary city on King, oops 'Mayor', Richie Daley's orders and the CPD is forbidden to ask about anyone's legal status.
'Hispanics' are now the majority 'Race' in Chi, followed by Blacks, a few thousand White Yuppie Cubs fans and maybe 60K old White Europeans who refuse to leave their home & neighborhood to the invading Vandals.
(My old middle class neighborhood is now a below poverty level gang-bangin' Mexican Barrio)

On a lighter note regarding the movie, does anyone think Melinda Dillon (Ralphie’s mom) was miscast? I thought she was dull and didn’t have chemistry with Darren McGavin. And her 1980’s frizzy perm was WRONG for a 1940’s housewife. She just didn’t look right for the part.

Its a common thing nationwide. Saw it my self in Memphis. Car slammed into a truck, where upon all them scattered like cockroaches. I told the cops and they said it happens all the time. Mexicans just crashing and running over Americans that we won’t run over ourselves.
I had heard that they didn’t tell the actress that the chop chop knife was going to come out, so her reaction is authentic!
It happened to my wife. She was sitting at a stop light when the guy in front put the car in reverse and ran into her. He jumped out of the car and ran into the house which turned out to be a home for Vietnamese refugees started by the Lutherans. The cops arrived and the whole house emptied out with everyone jabbering. The cop asked my wife “Which one was it?”. She replied “Be serious. They all look the same”. He started pulling drivers licenses and discovered 3 of them had the same license and insurance card in the same name.
The Lutheran pastor arrived and started making excuses. Then has accused my wife of running into the refugee. She has been working 3rd shift in a southern cotton mill and was well-versed in all manner of colorful speech which the Lutheran pastor discovered, ending with the question of why these people were’t “stinking up a jungle somewhere instead of taking our jobs”.
The cop made a threat about the funny licenses and the matter was settled.
Chances are good it will happen to you or yours.
