Oh, I just noticed, you’re from CA.

I repeat, TX is not, nor will ever be CA.

Yes, we have illegals. Yes, South TX is a political mess.

But the “lefties” do not run the state and if they ever think they will try....there will be a serious lesson learned.

Don’t Mess with Texas.

Texas is not where you were born, but a State of Mind, Heart and Attitude.

Goes something like this: “Leave us alone to live our lives in peace and we will get along fine, if that is not satisfactory, we will deal with it.”

Don't bother posting to that snide know it all troll.

That clown trashed Meg Whitman here non stop and promoted the brilliant idea of not bothering to vote because Mooonbeam wasn't all that bad.

Ignore him.

Dittos to that! The version of that statement taught to me had a bit more to it ... “... we will deal with it and you won’t like the result.”

It’s all well and good that you feel that way, but liberals are “messing with Texas” right in your face and you’re doing the same things California did 30 years ago, which is to say either nothing, or enabling.

Like it or not, without the Mexicans, the political climate in Ca. was a horserace; if you had decent candidates, it was possible to win an election. We elected Reagan twice. But Mexicans vote better than 2 to 1 for whoever promises the most free stuff and/or speaks the most spanish. Without fail. So there it is.

The only way to keep your state is to
1. Stop the freebies
2. Seal your border
3. Hammer employers of illegals.
4. Regain control of your education system
Undesirables will deport themselves to California, Mexico, or wherever.

Inescapable truth:
Demography is destiny.

I admire your pluck and determination (your moniker implies that [like me] you are older), but even though Texas remains staunchly conservative _today_, it is destined to become less so in the future.

It will be twenty years before all those newborns of illegals become voters. But someday they WILL become exactly that. And one thing I can assure you is that when they do, they will NOT “vote like you”.

South and West Texas will probably become a part of “emerging Atzlan”. Perhaps the best chance for the rest of the state may be to divide and cordon off the growing Mestizo population into their own area.

Some years ago, there was a poster here on FR by the name of “JoeSixPack”. He is gone, but his warning that California’s illegal problems would spread far and wide was prophetic and dead-on.

There’s an old saying (may be attributed or mis-attributed to Trotsky) that “you may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.”

To paraphrase, Texas (and old Texans) may not be interested in the illegals, but illegals are interested in Texas!
