I hold to my position that Obama will not finish his term. He may resign for health reasons, he may commit suicide, he may just die, the Democrats might convince him to resign, or his eligibility may become a hot issue and he may be forced out. Some of these are less likely than others, but one way or another, both parties are going to conclude that they don’t want him in the White House. And neither he nor Michelle really want him there either.

I hold to my position that Obama will not finish his term.

This happens for political or non-political reasons

For political reasons/dynamics to cause this requires too much time. Essentially, you're talking about a removal of a sitting President, and this simply is not going to happen with Obama.

Non-political reasons are the only credible way he does not finish his term. If the gossip about his "losing it" mentally are correct, one might speculate on the possibilities of his resigning, giving whatever politically expedient reasons are needed. Even then it's Really Really Far-fetched to imagine that the political powers-that-be (Dem politicos at the top) would opt for this.

More and more folks compare Obama to Carter. Carter finished his term. Obama will finish his.

If things get bad enough -- politically -- for the Democratic Party to clamor for a different Democrat President, it'll be through replacing Obama at the top of the ticket in 2012. Now THAT is something to watch for.

And, yes, watch for the Clintons to maneuver Hillary into this position. Her insistence that she's not interested is ... well ... just as incredible as the idea that Obama does not complete his first term.

I have to agree, something about the guy tells me he has no staying power and I’ve always thought he wouldn’t finish his term. But I’ve been wrong before...

I wish that I could agree with you.

As for the birth certificate issue, I personally hope that this is a 'red herring.' Think about it for a minute. If indeed Obama is shown to be ineligible to be President, then it would be the constitutional duty of the House of Rep. to impeach him immediately. But after what I saw a dozen years ago with Bubba Clinton, I doubt that a Senate conviction would result. I truly believe that the Democratic Party doesn't give a hang about the Constitution. And hence we will have another, potentially ultimately fatal, Constitutional crisis.

Ms. Noonan makes a great point. The Democrats are stuck. At the present time, it is hard to see anyone dislodging Obama from his perch.

I tend to agree with you that he might not finish his term.

He keeps getting curiouser and curiouser and every week there is a new development that leads me to believe he will snap. His performance at his presser was "queer" to say the least (he insulted absolutely everyone) and the fact that he was a "no show" at the debt commission meeting at the WH yesterday was odd.

We all need to keep in mind that Obama is not just a pathological narcissist, he towers above all other pathological narcissists. His Harvard Law classmates whispered that he was the most arrogant person they had ever encountered (he was so arrogant he deigned to lecture the professors). Think about that...he was the most narcissistic person ever encountered by fellow narcissists at the most narcissistic school in the world.

Well, sooner or later all narcissists get their comeuppance. It can occur when they collide with reality or it can occur when their narcissistic supply of adoring fans evaporates. Obama is facing both at the same time.

His undisguised anger at the presser this week is a dead giveaway of what is going on in that head of his. Anger is the first symptom of narcissistic collapse. In his mind, he is God and his minions have had the audacity to disobey him.

The question is, what will he do when he crashes? Will he try to bring down the house with him or will he run?

I am with you, thinking he will not complete the term. I heard Bill Clinton is meeting with him privately today, probably to coach him a little on his loser public relations. I just hope that he has a public meltdown of some type so there is no one left wondering what happened to him.

I agree that he won’t finish his term, but I think it will be voluntary. I think he will announce that he is resigning to take a “promotion” to some international institution, probably the UN. I think that Obama actually believes that being president of the US is not enough for him, and he’s getting tired of it now.

He probably realizes that he has done about as much destruction as he can, and he also realizes that he is no longer the object of adulation, even by the press. So it’s time for him to move on.

I don’t think there’s a chance in the world that he would be involuntarily removed for any reason, no matter how grave; but I do think that he will simply decide that he’s done with this.

Gotta disagree with you on that one, I think Michelle and Mother Robinson rather enjoy living in the White House, with its limos-at-call, unlimited vacations at the taxpayers' expense, glitzy dinners with heads-of-state, etc.

Hey, for them, this is all one big party! What recession??
