WASHINGTON — Republican senators blocked Democratic legislation on Thursday that sought to provide medical care to rescue workers and others who became ill as a result of breathing in toxic fumes, dust and smoke at the site of the World Trade Center attack in 2001.
The 9/11 health bill, a version of which was approved by the House of Representatives in September, was among several initiatives that Senate Democrats had hoped to approve before the close of the 111th Congress.

I take your meaning as:
If the Democrats take some time to push this bill and strengthen their hand by aligning their own congressmen, you will blame the Republicans and vote Democrat next time.

These people are planned collateral damage by our enemies. But rather than become angry at terrorists who “are still” killing us from 911, the press focuses on Republicans who are being blamed for their demise. What a sad “media” we have today.
The people who went there should have known what would happen. From Agent Orange to Gulf War Syndrome, once they’re done with you and have made all the pretty speeches, they toss you on the scrap heap.

If I recall the kerfluffle, it has to do with ANYONE being able to make a claim (like those who trucked debris but never went to the site, etc.)
