War is transforming itself before our eyes, turning into something unfamiliar and strange. Information has taken a place as a major class of weaponry, with sabotage and subterfuge as preferred tactics. On the new battlefield, these weapons are available not only to nation-states, but to organizations and even individuals.
The Revolution in Military Affairs (RMA) is something that ought to be more widely known than it is.

Let's picture Assange or one of his cronies engaging in a little creative writing. What topic should he choose? Or, I don't know ... maybe the birth certificate. Let's have Assange create an email from Barack Obama to Rahm Emmanuel. Let's have Obama express concern that people are "getting close to finding out" and have him question Emmanuel about "planting the evidence" in Hawaii, and mentioning money sent to Kenya "to destroy the evidence".
Yeah, type that up and stick it quietly into a batch of Wikileaks files. Put it next to the boring one about State Department diplomats talking to Albania about railroads.
No one needs to say anything. No one needs to make a big announcement. People will find it.
Okay. It's fake. How will anyone prove that? I think the Obama presidency goes down in flames virtually overnight -- through a very quiet, very inexpensive cyber attack. If I had to bet, I'd say that Assange's "insurance" cache contains something very much like this.
Commies have used anarchists before to stir things up before. Wikileaks is just the 21st century version.
We will soon realize we have to treat these cyber attacks for what they are: acts of war. And we have to respond “asymmetrically”.
This is just another example of how liberals treat acts of war and terrorism as law enforcement events and not military events.
This was a really fine article, really fine.
ping; well worth a read
The information was leaked, Assange is thus arrested, which leads to a massive cyber attack upon US Companies. Watch for more urgent calls to regulate the internet today. The progressives are working hard to control everything, this whole mess makes it easier.
The lack of strategic understanding of this administration has been brought to the forefront by wikigate. The unfortunate truth is that liberals have no clue how muddled they are. Jimmy Carter and Neville Chamberlain had similar clueless moments, let's hope we can survive with Obama being their heir.
For Carter, the 'moment' lasted a lifetime.
We shall see.
The one point that I tried to make for several years is that Information Warfare and its sibling Information Operations MUST be front end loaded for every military operations, kinetic or otherwise. The story that hits the street first, no matter how inaccurate, will be the one that is believed. Wikileaks and “urban myths” from the 1980s and later prove this.
The most important thing that our children and grandchildren must learn, either at home or in schools, is the ability to weed out falsehoods and half truths from the things they read, no matter the source. There is absolutely no other safety mechanism in tomorrow's information centric world.
It does tie in nicely with the timing of the Internet Regulatory push. It also seems strange that the administration did not do much about the first two dumps as well...
Thank you for posting this, Lakeshare. It is a very interesting read.
Well worth the reading.
Hey WikiLeaks! Show us the REALLY good stuff.
Rush Limbaugh Wants Julian Assange To Find the Really Good Stuff

If WikiLeaks TMZ ever becomes a reality maybe Rush could have his own segment. From yesterday’s radio show:
“Where are the WikiLeaks documents to prove 9/11 was inside job by George Bush and Dick Cheney? Let me ask you liberals, where are these cables?
“Where are the documents to prove Bush intentionally lied about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq in order to invade the country?
Where is the WikiLeaks document, the State Department cable, whatever, that [Karl] Rove leaked Valerie Plame’s name to the media?
Where’s all this good stuff? ...
“Where are the WikiLeaks cables proving that the CIA invented AIDS? Where is Obama’s birth certificate? Where’s the real good stuff?
And how about all the hundreds of other left-wing lies we’ve been hearing about for years?
[Is] WikiLeaks covering up for the United States?”

On a less technical front, there are few armies facing off against one another across a front. It's denigrated to guerrilla warfare and small terror cells sprinkled across the cities.
