The national news noted today that the United States Senate voted overwhelmingly to convict and remove from office the impeached Louisiana federal judge G. Thomas Porteous for four counts dealing with his corruption on the bench. What got little to no attention was the fact that Porteous, a Catholic, was the judge who in 1999, struck down Louisiana's ban on the grisly procedure known as partial birth abortion, calling it a "back door effort" to limit a woman's constitutional right to have an abortion. LINK
Porteous also ruled that the state of Louisiana was illegally using federal money to promote religion in its abstinence-only sex education programs. He ordered the state to stop giving money to individuals or organizations that "convey religious messages or otherwise advance religion" with tax dollars. Judge Porteous also said there was ample evidence that many of the groups participating in the Governor's Program on Abstinence were "furthering religious objectives."
How fitting and ironic that this corrupt judge, whose anti-life and irreligious opinions have afflicted the good people of Louisiana for two decades, should get his just comeuppance on the Catholic feast, dedicated to Mary's Immaculate Conception, which is one of the great feasts for Catholic prolifers and a reminder to us all that life does begin at conception.
Ping!
Thank you for posting, time to celebrate!
Wagglebee, for your list. ;-D
Our Lady had the final say on Judge Porteous, as she always does!!
Angels are rejoicing. ;-D

Porteous, the face of evil...
Very good news! Some more good news today is here: Virgin Mary apparitions near Green Bay shrine recognized as first in U.S.
(Our Lady of Green Bay? The Packer fans will go nuts!).
Happy feast day, Mary!
“Porteous, the face of evil...”
The full measure of Porteous’ crimes appear to have caught up with him. His conviction and removal on Our Lady’s great Feast and the Patronal feast of the United States (which is dedicated to Mary under her Title of the Immaculate Conception) tells me that she is actively involved in the affairs of our country at this crucial time, which should both spur us to prayer and give us great hope.
(Our Lady of Green Bay?)
That’s great! Thanks for the link.
Happy feast day to Our Lady, whom Reagan fondly referred to as “my gal”.
This man is a disgrace. He should start worrying about his eternal soul.
Happy feast day to Our Lady, whom Reagan fondly referred to as my gal.I did not know that. Thanks!
I might also remark that December 8, 2003 (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) was the date a State judge granted us third party permanent custody of my wife's granddaughters, who are now 8 and 9 and doing great. Intense prayer went into that and I did the legal work pro se and it was a lot of stress. But we won! (the girl's mother is very nice but has medical problems).
Our Lady works!
Much better...
“He should start worrying about his eternal soul.”
Agreed. He is only 63 but looks at least 20 years older. I really hope that he has a conversion because he may not have long to live, from the looks of him.
I wonder if Obama will appoint a pro life judge as the replacement?
Onyx, You post pictures of the loveliest ladies!!!!!
Thanks. That is beautiful.
If you look at history, many significant things happen on Our Lady’s feasts. I am convinced that it is her intercession that has saved this country over and over.
