Yep - Addazio is a non-starter. Mullen is first in line, followed by Malzon(?), the OC at Auburn. Would love to see what Leach would do with that level of talent, but he couldn’t make it at a program of that stature.

Citing unidentified sources, CaneSport.com reported that Mullen was contacted by representatives of Miami's coaching search and was choice "1A" for the job.

"Oh? That's nice," Mullen said Tuesday in Jackson. "You'd probably need to talk to my wife about that. She's around the corner and she really likes Starkville, Mississippi."

One hour after Mullen's comments to reporters at the Cellular South Conerly Trophy presentation, CaneSport.com reported former NFL coach and Super Bowl champion Jon Gurden would be the next coach at Miami "barring a last minute glitch."

"I haven't talked to anybody about any job," Mullen said Tuesday.

"It's all speculation and it means we're winning. The reality is I haven't talked to anybody about another job."

Well, he has another possible Heisman winner in Cam Newton. I wonder if he regrets letting Cam go.

He didn't 'let' Cam go. Cam was facing ethics and criminal charges of UofF.

Mullen and the Miami job

One thing I've learned after witnessing many of these coaching vacancies is to never believe anything any of the principals have to say. And Finebaum gets many things right.

Obligatory “Bob Stoops interested in open coaching job” rumor.

The problem with Cam Newton at FL was that a stolen computer was found in his possession and then he threw it out the window to get rid of the evidence.

And the fact that he didn't go to class and cheated on the exams.

I can just hear the rumors swirl here in Denver that he'll be the Bronco's next head coach.

Please, God...no.

Not that I don't respect him, but...

...health comes first.

Rich Rodrieguez should be available soon.

I sure hope not - I think RichRod is the best U of M coach EVAR!

He's done a great job there. The rumors will be non-stop until these major school openings are filled by someone, but I don't think the Miami job would appeal to some coaches.

Leach would be an interesting choice...One cvan also wonder if the Boise State coach ( can’t remember his name) might like to trade in his snowplow...I think it’s gonna be an “outside the box/away fromt eh conventional choice” pick..
