Liberals Try to Prevent Pelosi From Bringing Tax Bill to the Floor
FOX News ^ | 12/8/2010 | FOX News12/8/2010

Fox has learned that Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Jay Inslee (D-WA) are crafting a letter to share with the House Democratic Caucus that would try to prevent the Speaker from bringing the tax bill to the floor.

They hope to get 60 signatures on their letter (which is still being drafted) and then force a vote in the caucus. DeFazio says he thinks that if a majority of House Democrats are against this compromise, they shouldn't bring it to the floor.

The left controls Congress. I don’t expect this deal to pass.

However, while they’re fighting it they’re not working on other ruinous legislation so it’s not a total wash.

Not to mention consumer spending will nosedive, because the only discretionary money in the monthly cash flow for many, many households will be eaten up by the new withholding beginning with January’s first paycheck.

I think they want to stall and whine till the holiday recess - then poof everyone’s taxes go up.

Let the House GOP majority double down on Zero in Jan and make this priority # 1 - permanent tax cuts. That could be the filibuster talk from the Senate.

I find it hard to fathom, but could it be that the Republican strategy in the "Compromise" was based on inflaming the Lunatic Left so much that they ANTICIPATED a brawl that would not allow its passage, and stifle the Lame Duck Agenda? Side-tracking the intended passage of DREAM Act, etc.?

We could only HOPE that could be the case.

Imagine... if we could make the commie, socio, liberal, progressivist brand-name as odious and foul as it was in the 1950s. Remember, just 20 years before that, socializm was cool.

I wish i knew, I’ve seen most episodes from the last 4 seasons. My guess is pre-college, during Willow’s long hair phase. ;-)

I don’t know. The Repubs naming three RINOs to head committees in the new House makes me want to puke.

They are having trouble because they were told for years that these were tax cuts for the rich.

Well, they only "win" until January where the Republicans who will then retroactively pass the Bush tax cuts to remain in effect.

Come January, the Pubbies could certainly pass the Bush "tax cuts" (actually, maintain the same rates we have now) retroactively in the House. But it won't necessarily pass the 'Rat controlled Senate. And even if it did pass the Senate, there's a good chance that O would veto it, meaning a tax increase, and claim in his veto announcement that it doesn't include some of the provisions (e.g., unemployment benefits extension) supposedly agreed to in the "framework" he announced the other day.
