Fox has learned that Reps. Peter DeFazio (D-OR), Jim McDermott (D-WA) and Jay Inslee (D-WA) are crafting a letter to share with the House Democratic Caucus that would try to prevent the Speaker from bringing the tax bill to the floor.
They hope to get 60 signatures on their letter (which is still being drafted) and then force a vote in the caucus. DeFazio says he thinks that if a majority of House Democrats are against this compromise, they shouldn't bring it to the floor.

And watch the stock market crash south about December 15 or so when there’s no extension passed or indications of one that’s imminent — because the capital gains rate rockets up on Jan 1 without any action and everyone will sell bigtime to avoid paying higher capital gains taxes on their positions.
If the Lord is listening, let it be so.
I want everyone in this country to see exactly what the Democrats had in store for us if the elections had went their way. A Democratic congress would never be debating the Bush tax cuts.
But, but, but aren’t they holding middle-class taxpayers hostage in order to try and shaft a few businesses with more than $250,000 in income?
Well, they only "win" until January where the Republicans who will then retroactively pass the Bush tax cuts to remain in effect.
It may result in more tax paperwork or the tax payers get refunded or a combination of the former and later. If that's the only cost we have to worry about, BUT we keep DADT, DREAM, START, and the odious Safety Food Act off the law books, then that is a good deal for us.
commie socialist scum. Remember the names, mark them twice. TAKE BACK THE REPUBLIC! FOR GOD, HONOR AND COUNTRY!
That should be on a billboard in 2012.
Furthermore to go along with my last post, the Dem infighting may result in a long delay that it does take 21 days to pass the Bush tax cuts to stay in effect. The long delay could keep the other bad Demo legislation from passing into law. This is the best case scenario.
This bill is a socialist piece of crap. Those who worship it are cultist commies looking for their own handout. Those same cult worshipers don’t care what all these handouts do to our debt by adding another trillion or two onto it over a couple of years. Not charging for social security....Are you kidding me!
And lets keep that unemployment HANDOUT going.
Once again...You SELFISH people who would FORCE your handouts onto everyone else. Even those who are not yet born. I can understand a democrat doing that. They are not capable of thought or reason. But I have been standing beside myself that conservatives would do it. You are destroying this country.
Well I can only hope that the bond market shuts down this little exercise in insanity. You don’t deserve anything at all.
No they won't. The US Senate is still in the control of the Democrats and they'll be able to cobble together enough votes to filibuster. They only need 41 to be successful, and they have 54 Democrat Senators.
And if they get that far, you can bet that Obama will be secretly cheering them on in the background.
And they can do a full-court media press designed to hurt the Republicans if the unemployment benefits are not extended.
This is not over yet if these house democrats get up a head of steam.
You are right about stalling other legislation, and I agree with you on that being a positive.
Stalling DADT and the Dream act will kill them. They’ll not pass the House the next session.
DADT, though, could be imposed by the courts. If it gets to the Scotus, it will fail, but the Obama justice department will not push it to Scotus level.
just remember: even when they have the majority, the Republican leadership tend to act like the minority. They have the power, but are afraid to use it. They’ll agree to act in a ‘bipartisan’ manner.
I was watching Leno, Olbermann and Rachael lay it into Obama. Hell hath no fury like a scorned liberal.
Everyday they don’t get this done is one day less to get the other crap to the floor.
Oh, yes it DOES. And they'll find that out soon enough.
Trick is for the rest of us NOT to go there with them.
Amazes me how any political group defines their identity as on hurting upper level taxpayers no matter what the consequences.
Do it! Tea Party rapture!
OK, the Dems do a reverse. They will get hammered again in 2012. They are not going to get away with it without getting badly stomped.
The Dims have 22 Senators up for elections in 2012. I bet they don't have the guts to play lemmings again as the did the last 2 years. When and need be in January, the Repub House passes the law to keep the tax rates in place, the Dim senators will not have the intestinal fortitude. They'll whine like 5 year old girls but will pass the Bush tax cuts. Game set match.
Is it my imagination, or does everything BO touches turn to crap? He prematurely announced the deal, is flaying away with criticisms at the left and the right.
What a total screwup this guy is.
From your lips to God's ears. :>)
I think, though, that the Dems believe in the power of the media to brainwash the people given a 2 year period in which to do it.
They will believe that this past November was an exception.
