Author claims we're in the grip of a mini ice age
The Sunday Sun ^ | Dec 5 2010 | Mike Kelly

AFTER nearly two weeks of snow and sub zero temperatures rivaling those of Siberia, the old joke about global warming being a good thing has had a new lease of life. So what has happened to doom-laden predictions of the world heating up as glaciers melt? Mike Kelly reports.

A satellite image of the UK taken during last year's harsh winter

FIRST the good news. These bitter winters aren’t going to last forever. The bad news is that they will go on for the next 30 years as we have entered a mini ice age.

So says author Gavin Cooke in his book Frozen Britain. He began writing it in 2008 and it was published last year when experts were scratching their heads at the cause of the bitter winter of 2009/10 which brought England to a standstill. Some said it was a one-off event, with experts predicting snowfall becoming increasingly rare.

Now, 12 months on, the current sub zero spell makes last year look just a bit chilly. Just like kids enjoying ‘snow days’ off school, Gavin ought to be delighted with the cold snap. After all, he can justifiably say ‘I told you so’. But he’s as glum as the rest of us.

“I’m getting sick of it myself,” he said.

When Gavin, 48, of Monkseaton, North Tyneside, began writing the book the acclaimed documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ by former US Vice President Al Gore about global warming, was still fresh in the memory.

It detailed how carbon emissions were contributing towards the melting of the polar ice caps causing the world to heat up.

He is quick to admit that he hasn’t got the scientific background of those who have spent a lifetime studying climate change.

And like the rube he is, he looked at where the data took him without any government funding him.

He better learn how to do sloppy computer models that are consistently wrong so he can get on the government grant train.

I will always remember the Blizzard of 1977. I grew up in Orchard Park, NY(south of Buffalo). We had 3-4 feet of snow and 75 mph winds. Schools were closed for a week. I was 14 at the time. I remember talk of the “coming ice age”. My high school Earth Science teacher said it was all BS because the glaciers were continuing to melt and receed.

I also remember that spring we had an ice storm that we lost power for week and school was closed again for another week. All of the neighborhood kids hung out at the house at the end of the road because they were on a different line and had electricity.

The downside was I think I was in school that year until almost July.

Gen 8:22 While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.

The Time is coming though, but man won't be the cause.

Rev 16:8 And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. Rev 16:9 And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.

My husband has told me for years that as long as our poles are ice-covered, we are still in an ice age. He is kinda like living with Spock, so I tend to believe him.

But some educrat thinks (s)he knows what the global thermostat SHOULD be set at

And, yet, I don't recall any of the alarmists telling us just what the optimal temperature is. So, what is it. They say we are warming, from what? What is the best temperature for the Earth to be? Anyone?

No,...they are now changing to ocean acidification...as the the alarm cause and the need for controlling man's impact on the planet.

Good questions?

It would be good to have more posts of scientific reports and fewer juveniles joking about very serious matters.

We can fix most of the BO legislative disasters and BO’s WikiLeaks, but frankly I have not seen anyone with solutions for BO’s Gulf Oil Spill Disaster.

Not by Fire But by Ice by Robert Felix. He makes a good case for an Ice Age that could start at any time.

Oh! A mini ice age! I’m overjoyed and delighted. I collect miniatures, so I’m looking forward to the mini glaciers, mini mammoths, mini saber-tooth tigers, mini cave men, their teensy eensy little children, and all their tiny tools and cave paintings.

I’m so excited!

To fight this grave threat to humanity drastic action is required - we must massively boost carbon emissions. The government should buy everyone a SUV - we can call it the HUMMERS FOR ALL ACT.

The principal problem with cooling like this is food production. Short growing seasons with insufficient heat to develop the harvestable crops.
