The international manhunt for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange in a sex-crime investigation in Sweden apparently stems from a condom malfunction.
Assange's London attorney, Mark Stephens, told AOL News today that Swedish prosecutors told him that Assange is wanted not for allegations of rape, as previously reported, but for something called "sex by surprise," which he said involves a fine of 5,000 kronor or about $715.
Assange is the subject of an international manhunt, as a result of Interpol issuing a "red notice," a warrant indicating the person should be arrested with a view to extradition.
"We don't even know what 'sex by surprise' even means, and they haven't told us," Stephens said, just hours after Sweden's Supreme Court rejected Assange's bid to prevent an arrest order from being issued against him on allegations of sex crimes.

He was arrested for not wearing a condom. His defense is that if he did wear one, it would leak.

It would not break my heart if Julian were to hang himself in his cell, suffer a fatal seizure, stuff a pillow down his own throat to suffocate himself, or otherwise do himself in while in custody or even suffer “Death by RuRu” at the hands of some maniacal fellow prisoner. The poor lad looks depressed as hell most of the time so I imagine that nobody would be surprised if he were emotionally unable to handle the stress of being incarcerated.
Hope springs eternal...

He was arrested for not wearing a condom. His defense is that if he did wear one, it would leak. How unfortunate. He evidently can't find one snug enough to fit properly.
I can see where some of his "see the world burn" anger might be originating. Most would just go buy a sportscar, but NOOOooOOO... ;-)

How about charging Assange with espionage? Clearly there are espionage laws in the US and the UK. If all they can hold him for is a half baked sexual assault in Sweden it shows how impotent the US DOJ has become.
However, the DOJ and the Obama administration have done nothing to seriously investigate the source of these leaks or to improve US security even months after the first of these leaks was made public. I find it hard to believe that a 22 year old Army PFC stationed in Iraq had unlimited access to every US secret from military memos to diplomatic information from all over the globe and worse still was able to make copies of this information with impunity. If that was the case is says the security of vital US secrets is so poorly secured that even a 14 year computer hacker could potentially gain access to nuclear launch codes.
