U.S. warned people to avoid mystery missile zone
World Net Daily ^ | 12/01/2010 | F. Michael Maloof

Posted on 12/06/2010 6:26:46 AM PST by Sprite518

The Department of Defense is slamming the door on questions about the mysterious contrail filmed Nov. 8 by a KCBS television crew near Los Angeles after questions were raised about a warning from the National Geo-Spatial Intelligence Agency that there could be missiles fired in that area at that time.

And??? What does that have to do with the facts in this article? What do you think people work for free???

The point at which the geodessic systems take over is always very detectable by a marked adjustment in trajectory.

Sure looks like something happened here.

It probably was a jet contrail.

But since the government says it was a jet contrail, there is now reason for skepticism. :)

Preecisely.

The change from vertical flight to great circle flight is always unmistakable.

How many airliners do you know of that are capable of a vertical trajectory?

It was an exception to the norm. If what you are saying was the case, then it would not have made the national news. There are plenty of aircraft that fly around Los Angeles everyday. We would see what is here everyday and we do not. Thus, why we see what we see.

What do you think people work for free???

You tend to assume a lot. You are a perfect World Nut Daily fan.

Here's a tip: Use one question mark to avoid looking like a drama queen.

There is nothing about the televised video that would yield any power or velocity info, because it was shot after the fact, not during flight.

Shot "after the fact"? Ha ha ha. Come on, think just a little bit: if the trail being left was not a jet contrail, then it was a trail left by rocket combustion. That's not "after the fact." That's during flight. If it had been filmed over a period of ten minutes, then certain things follow:
1. That would be between 2 and 3 times longer powered flight phase than any ICBM.

2. If it were under observation over that period of time, then the distance it traversed was short enough that it had to have been traveling at a relatively, for missiles, slow velocity. Unless, of course, someone wants to maintain, as some have, that it was a cruise missile, in which case we would be back to relatively slow speeds and a contrail from jet exhaust.

“The point at which the geodessic systems take over is always very detectable by a marked adjustment in trajectory.”

That was exactly what he was saying regarding his analysis of the video.

Wake up!

All that we have seen was very much after the fact.

The only part of the video that was live flight was so far away, and by that point, on such a flat trajectory that no visual data is of use. (how good is your depth perception for something hundreds of miles away?)

The video begins with the vehicle a long distance away, in great circle flight. The initial launch was shown only in pan.

“They had two planes in the ‘same general’ area.”

How many planes does this “NATCOM” own?

When a missile is launched, the flight is first controlled by inertial guidance systems onboard, but once stable flight is achieved, a geodessic guidance system takes over, taking the vehicle to its intended target.

Tell us about the "geodessic guidance system," E-S. It would be highly instructive to hear all the details you can provide.

Sheesh, what groping by WND.
And the refusal to provide answers to specific questions suggests a cover-up of potential secret missile testing in the area – contrary to official jet contrail explanation.
Yeah sure. No real beef in the article. Author complains of DOD response, but
"At the Pentagon, Lt. Col. Robert Ditchey from the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs reaffirmed DOD's original statement by saying that inquiries were made with each of the services and the Department of Homeland Security which includes the Federal Aviation Administration and it was concluded that there were no launches that day.

"All DOD entities with rocket and missile programs reported no launches, scheduled or inadvertent, during the time period in the area of the reported contrail," Ditchey said.

"In addition, the FAA ran radar replays from Monday afternoon (of Nov. 8) of a large area west of Los Angeles," he added. "Those replays did not reveal anything unusual. The FAA also did not receive reports of any unusual sightings from pilots who were flying in the area Monday afternoon."

And they reprint the misleading comment form the article they posted before:
"The question that still must be answered is why NORAD's muted response was simply that North America was not threatened…"

False. NORAD's response was:

“We can confirm that there is no threat to our nation, and from all indications this was not a launch by a foreign military."

DOD says no US rocket launches, NORAD says no foreign launches.

WND uses sleazy methods to try to hype it's previous story. Works unless you read it.

There is an article and it is a vehicle for selling subscriptions.

I see it more as a dishonest vehicle for promoting a previous dishonest article.

Oh yeah... WND is just making it up, and all those people that saw what they saw that day too. That was normal. It happens every single day... (sarcasm off)

Hey if you want to believe the government, then you go right ahead. This government lies all the time and get caught left and right. That is what happened here.

Like this one:

As has been demonstrated numerous times, airplane contrails can appear to be have vertical trajectories depending on perspective.
