Julian Assange, the WikiLeaks founder, has circulated across the internet an encrypted poison pill cache of uncensored documents suspected to include files on BP and Guantanamo Bay.

I don’t think you can “shut down the sites” so easily.
They are multible and mirrored all over the place.
Also, offing him may not be the solution as he has others working for him and others willing to take up the banner for him if he does go down. The hacker community is quite large.
The best way to shut this off is to have better security ... but that would be too dull to discuss
We do if they are holding all the cards
In general I agree with you. I’d like to point out, however, that in matters of espionage the goal is not to secure conviction, mind you highest possible conviction. The goal is to smoke out the spies and moles.
In this respect UCI is irrelevant. Lots of time spies go free as a part of a larger deal.
Another point - Administration knew about leaks at least since the beginning of this year. Did nothing and seemingly continues to do exactly that (other than complaining).
Focusing on a patsy smells to high heaven.
I hope as you do that the new Congress will set a different tone.
Do you always jump to such conclusions?
Here's a conclusion for ya.

What needs to be realized is that we have a corrupt Administration - either completely corrupt or quite a bit.
Another thing to realize is that National security is not the thing that is handled well by the community organizers.

For example France is under no obligation nor can they legally prosecute someone committing espionage against the UK or Belgium or us. The problem will Assange is he is NOT an American citizen he is an Australian citizen. He is under no obligation to protect any secrets other then Australian secrets and maybe even not then. (You have to sign secrecy agreements allowing you access to said secrets in which comes the obligation to protect them!)
Maybe receiving stolen goods is his crime?
Anyway Manning enabled Assange I do not understand the lack of focus of people here on FR on Manning. If the story is true he gave a terabyte of data to Assange and one page of text is 1 kilobyte (guessing here!) then look at number of pages passed to Assange by Manning. Terabyte =10^ 12 bytes, 1 kilobyte = 10^3 bytes, well 10^9 is a lot of pages!
It may not reach to the moon but I wouldn't want it to fall on me! Manning's actions don't require a conspiracy, modern IT technology can do with one dvd what an army of spies working decades can do. I don't understand why people here on FR are more focused on Manning and the lax security procedures that allowed him to bring digital recording technology into a secure facility. I understand the media's lack of interest in focusing on Manning because it endangers their DADT repeal dreams and calls to question as to whether allowing people with certain “life styles” classified access.
Killing Assange is not going to stop this from happening.

...It was 30 years ago when I was young
And the jungle not the desert heard the guns
Someone said they had a secret plan
And the rest of us were told to understand
Well I don't want this
No I don't want this
I have had enough - no more
Tomorrow is the price for yesterday
A million waves won't wash the truth away
Someday you'll be ordered to explain
No one gets to walk between the rain
And I don't want this
No I don't want this
I have had enough - no more
No I don't want this
No I don't want this
I have had enough - no more

But if a French citizen is caught doing espionage against the USA, WE can kill him/her and France has no recourse.
Irrespective of the Mechanics of the espionage, Assange should be marked for elimination. An administration that truly cared about the USA would have already carried it out.
By leaking State Department Cables, BO has made himself public enemy #1 of all Diplomats worldwide and subjected himself to a lawsuit to legally remove him from office directly before SCOTUS.

“Now, ultimately, this issue isnt just about information freedom; it is about what kind of world we want and what kind of world we will inhabit. Its about whether we live on a planet with one internet, one global community, and a common body of knowledge that benefits and unites us all, or a fragmented planet in which access to information and opportunity is dependent on where you live and the whims of censors.
Information freedom supports the peace and security that provides a foundation for global progress. Historically, asymmetrical access to information is one of the leading causes of interstate conflict. When we face serious disputes or dangerous incidents, its critical that people on both sides of the problem have access to the same set of facts and opinions.”

DO IT!!
Lots of foreign spies go free. Traitors to their country don't get a free pass, ever. At best, they're spared from the death penalty if they cooperate, or if the damage from a capital-offense trial could do irreparable harm to the country.
In this regard, Manning's ship has already sailed. Whatever he had in terms of leverage, vanished with the publication of those first military documents. His problems were compounded with this latest release. Also, it's not as if Manning is part of some large, distributed spy ring, where he can provide valuable counter-intel. No, his useful purpose has expired.
If they can make an espionage case, the government is going to make it.
Lastly, I would not describe Manning as a "patsy". He's not. He's an educated young man who was attempting to make a political statement with the theft and dissemination of some of the country's most sensitive military and diplomatic intelligence.
I have a question...
If Assange is connected to George Soros, and George Soros is connected to the Democrat Party...
Doesn’t this make the Democrats culpable in this...???
I’m just sayin’....
Killing the front man will accomplish nothing though after his previous release I really wouldn't care if he did take a dirt nap.
Maybe he's still alive because the PTB want it that way, eh?
