Liam Neeson has caused controversy by suggesting that Aslan, the Christlike character in C.S. Lewis’s Narnia books, could represent the prophet Mohammed or Buddha.
The actor who voices the lion in the film adaptations of the books has angered some fans of the stories, who claim he is distorting Lewis’s intentions to be “politically correct”.
Aslan the lion features in all seven Narnia books, guiding children away from evil and harm and encouraging them to do good.
Lewis was clear that the Aslan was based on Christ, and once wrote of the character: “He is an invention giving an imaginary answer to the question: “What might Christ become like if there really were a world like Narnia?”.”

Imho, for the most part it’s sheer laziness, although for some it may be an inadequate vocabulary. Of course, there are always those who use foul language to shock others.

Neeson is a wacko. Consider that he played Kinsey. Hard to listen to him voice Aslan after playing that demented role.
Nope. She didn't hit a tree. Natasha Richardson took a basic spill on a rudimentary ski slope. As a skier and ski racer, I followed what happened carefully. It led to much discussion in the skiing community over protection, prevention, and methods to follow.
She wasn't wearing a helmet, but she was only skiing the type of run that millions of us skied without helmets for the better part of a century. Liam Neeson was not there, he was thousands of miles away earning money for his family (making a movie).

Fine. I will. To use the tragic death of a man's wife in a freak accident as a political club to beat him up with is despicable, and below the standard of discourse at FR, in my opinion. It doesn't matter if the man says something stupid. More to the point, it has NOTHING TO DO with the stupid thing he said.

Finding a celebrity death to be regrettable and tragic is normal. Being "really ticked off about it", when it involves people you've never met, and when you are clearly mistaken about the parameters of the incident, is really mentally unhealthy.

Cameras capture moments of time that can belie the real range of expressions that a face can go through over even a brief period. And I know first-hand that emotions in the face of grief run the gamut. Maybe they were remembering something funny about the mother of their family, and it helped break up the horror of the situation. Or maybe they were putting on a face for the paparazzi photographers.

It really sounds like you need to pull back from the pages of "People Magazine" and establish more real relationships with people in the real world. This level of mental investment in a celebrity that you are showing makes me feel sorry for you.

Exactly, I agree. Given the boss's not infrequent use of acronyms, such as FUBO!!!, I'd take that as tacit consent that posters are permitted the same. But, this has never applied on the religion forums, as far as I'm aware. That's a different set of rules, and if someone chooses to post in the religion forum, they need to respect the rules of that forum. Seems simple enough to understand.

Yeah, fine. It’s the religious forum. What was it doing on the front page? I didn’t click on the religious forum and then cursed on a thread there. I thought this was a General Discussion/Current Events thing. I’ve never consciously gone to the religious forum and sweared there. Ever.
Well, I’m all for being as rational as possible. This article was on the front page. It’s good to know that my post would have been ok, otherwise. That makes me feel better. I honestly didn’t consciously post my reply to the Religious Forum, though. Perhaps something could be done to avoid future misunderstandings? I’m ok with the rules and respecting everyone, I think you will find that to be the case in my posting history, because if I had known, I wouldn’t have done it. I don’t think many Freepers get anywhere by telling others to ‘Go Somewhere else if they don’t like it.’ because quite a few people don’t come back because they don’t care for that attitude. These are people who are on our side, too. We shouldn’t be alienating them.
Forums have owners, the owners make the rules. That’s all I really meant. Sorry if I offended you.
