Of course he does. the question is will congress and citizens let obama and his band of misfits continue to achieve through bureaucracy and regulation what they are unable to achieve through law. better still, why wait to find out. shut down the BATFE altogether. just another out of control federal agency that does more harm than good and we are better off with out it.

others are worried Traver will implement strict gun rules by way of bureaucratic regulations rather than law.

Again, Obastard is going to get what he wants by regulatory and judicial fiat when he cannot get it through Congress. I wonder if Congress was just stupid and naive when they created HUNDREDS of government agencies and gave them the power to create "rules" with the weight of law or were they intentionally laying the groundwork for a person like Obama who would usher in their totalitarian utopia.

emailed my Rep saying he needs to do every thing he can to derail the Traver nomination, and then turn his attention to the ATF and their list of misdeeds.

It is not possible to utterly enslave an armed people. The left has been aware of this for the better part of a century, hence the reason for its perpetual assault on the 2nd amendment. Irony aside, actual Americans will NOT reclaim their liberty and nation until the left finally succeeds in making the ownership of guns illegal. Nothing short of this will provide the spark necessary to begin the 2nd American revolution.

Whatever it is, I'm against it!

Seriously, what did you expect? Also, has there ever been a pro-2A head of ATF?

Without knowing anything else my answer would be yes only because he's an 0blahblah appointee.

I'm so done with hoping that this kenyan idiot does the right thing, since I know anything he does is for the destruction of the country. The only thing I do when I read anything about Hussein is count the days till 1/20/2013.

He is such a rabid anti-gun activist that he was caught lying, or I guess cheating is closer to correct, on a TV show. He was trying to make people think the semi-auto rifles were full auto.

He probably didn’t technically lie but clearly intended to mislead.

Well, honestly, we are still a free nation, so it does not matter what he opposes. No matter what these assorted half-wit bureaucrats like or dislike, it's still in the Constitution, which is still the supreme law of the land and the foundation for our entire legal system and society. Every single judge out there who rules against a citizen exercising one of his unalienable rights, including and especially the right to keep and bear arms, knows full well that he is in the wrong, however he tries to justify it. They know they are violating their oaths of office and the letter and spirit of the Constitution. They can only do it for as long as people let them; those days are coming to an end slowly, but surely. If they want a showdown, I'm sure a few million patriots would oblige them; there are already plenty of people itching for a confrontation to settle things the right way. I double-dog dare them.

"Even President Obama seemed relatively open to Second Amendment rights, saying on the campaign trail: “I believe there is a Second Amendment right. I think it is an individual right. I think people have the right to lawfully bear arms.”

The thing to which we must pay attention is the context in which Obama places our unalienable right to keep and bear arms: within the context of law, his laws, and those of the states that try to supersede the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution. They try to assert that man-made laws trump the unalienable right we have to be secure in our persons and property. They assert that government is giving that right within the context of government's laws, rather than being innate to our persons. The thinking is to cow people into believing that our rights come from government and, hence, are privileges bestowed by government, rather than unalienable rights that exist independent of the state. Whatever government gives, government can take away. It was a cleverly worded phrase, but deceptive and false.

The states and cities are simply ignoring the Heller decision by the SCOTUS - and they being allowed to get away with it.

When the horrific Roe vs. Wade decision found a glittering right to "privacy" in the Constitution that translated into a children being slaughtered, liberals took that ball and ran with it all the way into the godless endzone.

The states and cities don't want to affirm the right to gun ownership, so they are pressing ahead with their fascist tactics. The Court gave them a small "out", (reasonable laws), and they had to know that would be twisted and torn so wide that the states and cities could drive a truck through it.

So, this is what we are left with:

Not enough real Americans left to enslave. Roe v Wade, Kelo, no problem, just retreat a little more. If the SCOTUS had ruled otherwise and announced that 2A didn’t apply to individuals, who here would rebel?
Yeah, molon labe. When they come to your door you’ll resist. You’ll resist the tanks, flamethrowers, all that.
