The House on Thursday formally censured Rep. Charlie Rangel for financial misconduct despite pleas from the New York Democratic lawmaker and some of his colleagues for a less punishing reprimand.
The House voted to censure Rangel 333-79.
Rangel, who became the 23rd House member to be censured, appeared at the front of the chamber while Speaker Nancy Pelosi read the resolution.

Where be Maxine Waters anyway?
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw Ben Stein on a TV commentary saying Rangel’s indiscretions were overblown and didn’t amount to anything.
He was wrong, and stupid to suggest it.
Why was he not tried in a court of law?
I don’t want to read “censured” next to a criminal’s name...I want to see “thrown out of Congress” or “sent to prison”. Y’know, any of the headlines that only seem to appear when a republican is convicted of some crime.
LOLOL
Thrown out of congress? Just like his predecessor Adam Clayton Powell?
His constituents must be so proud of their representatives.
DUmocrats - living proof that there are some folks who are too stupid to vote. As long as the pork dollars keep rolling in, it supports the DEAD BEAT class who make up the DUmocrat-voting base. Long term DUmocrats never retire until they’re carried out of congress like Sheets Byrd or the bloated windbag Floater Kennedy.
The Donkeys scrape the bottom of the barrel for candidates year after year, but always seem to manufacture enough “votes” to remain in office even after committing numerous crimes.
I can’t say what punishment I believe this RAT should receive without risking having guvmint brownshirts knocking down my front door.
No fines, nothing else, just the 'embarrassment' of the censure. And, after watching it, I'd have to say there was little embarrassment involved.
Cab is one of my musical heros!
Rangel needs to be prosecuted.
Did you hear why he really walked out of his hearing last month? It was because the committee had lined up dozens of people (including Donald Trump) who would go on record (and under oath) testifying to his crimes.
There cannot be a standard for pols, and one for everyone else. Rangel was the megaphone calling for every business executive in the last 30 years to have the book thrown at them....even if their "crime" was arcane and obscure (i.e. "Conspiracy to do business with insider....something....maybe...but still CONSPIRACY!")
Now, Rangel will walk Scot Free.
It was Young of Alaska...
Oh. Wow. He was censured.
I am so impressed.
I am so excited.
His liberal resume for advancement to positions of power is now enhanced in his party.
This is complete, worthless crap. It angers me more than I can say. This criminal sets tax law and enables the IRS to chase people like us down and throw us in jail for missing payment of taxes. Him and that corrupt elitist piece of crap Geithner.
He is a ridiculously wealthy man, and WHAT HAS HE EVER DONE TO PRODUCE WEALTH? NOTHING. He got ridiculously wealthy as a “civil servant”.
I hate that description, “civil servant”. He is nothing of the sort.
Oh no, not a censure! /s
When does his trial for tax evasion and fraud begin?
I believe the ruling requires him to pay that as well.
