Outgoing Republican Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado said today that he has contacted GOP members of California's congressional delegation and urged them to vote for a bill that would offer a path to legal status for undocumented youth.

"Don't make this a political football. Get it done. California needs it," Maldonado, one of California's few high profile Republican Latinos said he told members.

Maldonado, who is Mexican American and owns a farm, was appointed lieutenant governor this year but lost his bid for election in November. . . .

Glad this RINO go defeated, much thanks to John and Ken, of course he wants more mexicans to crowd out legal kids wanting to get into some of these colleges... this whole dream act is a night mare, and goes on forever, as it never sun sets

I voted a straight GOP ticket in California except I did NOT vote for Moldynardo. He was the lone vote against his party to go with Arnold and raise taxes. I hate Newsome but I voted 3rd party rather than vote for Moldynards. He is like McCain and should have been in the Democratic party all along.

...the dream act is nothing more than a way of amnesty. Requirements to obtain citizenship is a hoax. One 18 year old Mexican male with 6 sisters and 4 brothers, five aunts and fourteen uncles, 37 cousins......after all, you don’t expect the government to break up a family do you?

Boo. Hiss. Stay out of it, Maldonado.
You’re a two-bit state official, not a federal one.
Look around. Do you want the rest of the country to become like California?

Maldonado is the poster boy as to why the Republican Party should never cave to the illegals.

He is an open borders Mexican-American Republican who couldn’t get his own people to support him.

The notion the Hispanics will come to the GOP if we forgive their criminal behavior is a proven lie.

Regardless, I think the Latinos go with the Democrats over their leeching off the welfare state more than anything else.

Anybody who thinks that the Latinos would race to the GOP after passing a comprehensive amnesty while cutting off the welfare state cash cow is a fool.

...keep in mind, they are required to "REGISTER" for military or college......but like anything the government does, after they fail at one or the other, will they be deported?...there's a question no ones prepared to answer.

I once knew a guy named Maldonado. A real scum, as it happened. The name sounds to me suspiciously like “evil gift,” or “ill given.”

There IS a path to citzenship for ALL peoples wishing to become Americans. It works if used and supported by the US Government. Allowing those that broke laws to come here and hide here and sap the system become citizens because they did these things is WRONG..

The welfare state cash cow is the reason why they will stay with the Democratic Party even if most of them votes Yes on Prop 8 and may be pro-life on the abortion issue.

In my local state legislative district the latino voters both rejected a social conservative latino and a social liberal latino in 2 different elections and chose the big government latina instead.

they are required to "REGISTER" for military or college

Our kids enlist to earn money to pay for their college education. Offering a path to citizenship simply for attending college is not fair to those who serve.

How the hell did Cali go from Reagan style Repubs to what you have today. First class progressive garbage. Screw you Able. You will have to find Americans to work the farm instead of slaves.
