To the dismay of all but hard-core political junkies, the endless campaign is a reality of modern politics. With some midterm races still unresolved, voters attention is already turned to 2012. And no potential presidential candidate now garners more attention than former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
Love her or hate her, admire her or fear her, respect her or ridicule her, it seems no one in the chattering class is without an opinion on Palin. Virtually every part of her life is dissected sometimes by her own choice. Each word is scrutinized, and each misstep no matter how small is treated as breaking news.Palin has made clear that she is thinking about running for president. Everyone, from pundits to former first ladies, has weighed in on what she should do. Many urge her not to run.
But if she decides to, Republicans of all stripes should applaud her decision. This isnt an endorsement of her candidacy. It is, however, an endorsement of her right to participate in the process.
If we want a GOP nominee prepared for the rough-and-tumble of the general election, then we need a rigorous primary. To ensure we nominate the best our party has to offer, we need as many of our leaders as are willing to throw their hats in the ring. If we want to guarantee that our standard-bearer reflects Republican values and priorities, then we need a diverse field to choose from.

LOL!!
I completely agree, but with the press crowning whoever wins two out of the first three (Iowa, NH, SC), we'll never get one.
Well if Chris Christie wants another 4 years as Governor of NJ, then he should go for it, because like us in NY, they badly need somebody good at the helm. We’re getting Andrew Cuomo.
Pretty good, coming from Politico...only NO ONE has the right to be president least of all the current one.
Who knows what his motives are. Maybe his old Reagan roots are stirring. He did meet her at the recent Newsmax event in FL and appeared at a fundraiser with her.
Please Add “right to run for President” my mistake
Palin should say “Thanks, but no thanks” to this pro-islam activist.

Not at all...he is part of the growing conservative movement that is THROUGH with the Washington Insiders giving us yet another squishy nominee to hold our nose and pull a lever for because it will mean money going to THEIR bloc as opposed to the Dem bloc.
The taxpayers say “ENOUGH”...and since Palin sees it too...SHE IS “SHE WHOSE NAME MUST NOT BE ON THE BALLOT” to the Beltway Elephant herd.
Fie on them...
'Nuff said.
This is why the left keeps trying to destroy her....they know she has the potential of being their president and IF she is The Lord’s pick...there is nothing on earth that will stop her.

>> Nobody has the right to be President.
That’s not the title. It’s “right to for” whatever that’s supposed to mean.
Maybe it’s supposed to be: “right to run for”.
To have the right to run for President, all you have to be is a Natural Born Citizen who is at least 35 years old, been a resident in the United States for 14 years, and not yet been elected to the office twice.
And even those requirements are, apparently, flexible..."
Bump.

Ping... :)
(PS: Onyx, would you be so kind as to add me to your Palin Ping list?)
“Not at all...he is part of the growing conservative movement”
He is part of the CPAC movement that is trying to destroy the conservative movement.
The article mentions Iowa, New Hampshire, and North Carolina. Is anyone else here irritated that these small states basically get to choose our nominee for us? By the time we have our primary in Texas, all of the candidates have dropped out except for the guy whose turn it is, ie Juan McCain.
Why couldn’t the primary system be changed to where there were regional primaries? Divide the country into geographical regions. Each geographical region could take their turn being first every four years. The next time it would be last.
Northeast- From Maine south to Virginia, west to West Virginia and Pennsylvania 135 electoral votes
South- North Carolina south to Florida, all the gulf states, Arkansas and Oklahoma 136 electoral votes
Midwest-Ohio south to Tennessee, west to Kansas, Nebraska and the Dakotas 143 electoral votes
West - Montana south to New Mexico, and all states West, including Alaska and Hawaii. 124 electoral votes
538 votes total (2008 electoral map)
Each region has large states:
Northeast - New York and Pennsylvania
South - Florida and Texas
Midwest-Illinois and Chicago
West - California
Start the primaries March 1 and have one every 6 weeks. The last primary would be 8/15 just in time for the conventions.
Infinitely more fair to the states than the current system.
Hi LibertyRocks,
Delighted to add you, dear frined!
WELCOME!!!
Which Republican do you think will run as a write-in candidate after Palin wins the Republican nomination:
I'll start.
Romney.
As has Rove, and the rest of the DC Republicans. Writing articles telling a conservative (in various ways) “how dare you believe you are qualified to run for President...you undereducated snow-billy hick”.
And various Republican blogs, forums, and their (presumed Republican posters)....telling supporters of this possible conservative candidate that they are cultists, loons, wack-jobs, rabid, koolaid drinkers, etc.
Not the Republican Party's finest hour.
And they have probably lost a good 20% of their Republican base members.
Of course...the Republican Party will say good riddance...(finally some honesty).
How nice of her to say that she has a “right” to run for office. Good grief, she is Constitutionally qualified - that is all the “right” she needs! Idiots!
