Lugar is one of my Senators and I can’t stand the RINO.
I hope he’s RINO #1 with the biggest target for 2012. Indiana needs to start the search for an acceptable primary challenger NOW!
I say they can have him. We never see him here in Indiana anyway.
I think he remember some sort of group to who he hasn’t yet legislated an FDA subsidy to! I can’t imagine that there is any left but maybe.
No recall.
Maybe.
There is another factor involved as well, and it has influenced much of Lugar’s legislative agenda and actions.
He is and has always been a fully-owned CFR asset. In unguarded moments he sometimes refers to them as “the foreign relations boys” when commenting on why a particular issue is a non-starter, as in “I doubt the foreign relations boys will go for that”. It is, in the truest sense, one of their useful idiots.
We are unrepresented in Washington.
Well, I sure can't recall one that worked FOR us.
Gee whiz, Homer Capehart got there on the back of Milo T. Farnsworth and Zarkes Tarzian! (NOTE: that was one of the reasons Indiana's state government needed an Hungarian foreign policy ~ guy had some bucks).
This fancy bean lobby is a problem. Due to McCain/Feingold the bean farmers, with their numerous relatives and hold on local economies, end up being one of the largest possible sources of legal campaign fund raising. You could have an enormous Japanese auto plant in Evansville with thousands of workers and they couldn't begin to cough up the bucks bean farmers with Mexican contracts are able to make available to Lugar and the other fancy bean state senators.
You eliminate McCainFeingold you get rid of one of Lugar's major funding bases.
His only interest in Indiana are his own interests.
But then what can we expect from a guy who was honorary co-chair for Barack and Joe's inauguration?
The GOP here is cold and supports RINOs and very few conservatives.
“Hell, his first move will probably be to stop by McNastys office to ask him how he pulled it off.”
Without a doubt.
There have been a few, but they've all had to fight the same corrupt, entrenched good old boy Senate leadership club which we see today busily undermining people like Jim Demint and selling out the country to the globalists.
Demint is one, also Tom Coburn. From the past, Jesse Helms, and Jeremiah Denton. (a real Vietnam War hero and survivor of the Hanoi Hilton - research how he was treated vis a vis John Kerry)
Regarding Lugar's interests in foreign affairs, let's get back on track here. Mexico is a foreign country even if nobody running a farm in Indiana wants to believe it.
Be very careful about choosing a replacement.
I agree, it will be nice to replace Lugar with someone more conservative but to vote for a RAT is unconscionable.
This is why we have primaries. Primaries are very important. This is how we move the party to more conservative--not by electing RATS!!
Fine, find a suitable replacement to take him on in the primary—that is why we have primaries. We need to look at primaries as opportunities. They are very important.
But Lugar is Romney’s major ally in the Senate.
Lugar is Romney’s key to unseat Obama in 2012.
Lugar makes Romney “electable” on the eyes of “indies”.
Lugar is the major defender of the Bushites.
Lugar, he’s Romney’s Dick!
