US Government and Intelligence - Go Figure that one out is like Molasses moving in January.

If you want an intelligent conversation - do not seek out anyone that works for the government, because on the whole the government has no intelligence.

With the current administration their about as smart as a box of rocks, and the only movement the box has it is moving down a hill.

The media said that Obama was the most intelligent person to ever occupy the White House. The media was lying

I’ve refused to look at any of it yet; some misguided sense of not wanting to be complicit perhaps. Probably not a smart strategery . . .

I find it fascinating they didn’t give a snot about the leaks until they started coming from the State Department.

Good point!
Military and intel leaks that get our people killed -- they don't care.

Diplomatic leaks about Hillary's department and Obama's foreign policy -- "Katie, bar the door!"

The leaks got out because somebody very high in the government wanted them out.

Obviously by now what they wanted to get out has gotten out.

The 0bama administration didn’t give a crap when the leaked files were endangering troops. But they leapt into action when the leaks were embarrassing to them.

Some stuff shouldn’t remain secret - especially in the State Department. Breckinridge Long comes to mind.

>After 9/11, there was this big push to make it easier for different departments and agencies of the government to share information.

And you know what happened to that “big push”? Jack Shit.

>The thought was that 9/11 could have been stopped with easier communication between the various agencies.

The truth is it probably would have.

>The problem with this is when you break down those communication walls, the information becomes more vulnerable to being intercepted.

But the communication walls WEREN’T broken down. If anything they were built higher and more maze-like. Why?
Well, if your agency is obviously doing the same intel work some other agency is, then when budget-cuts comes around you have to justify your agency’s funding better than the other group.

But by not sharing information, or by poor organization of it {ie hiding in plain sight}, you have less chance of being called on it. In fact, you could say “refer to my boss’s report #XX71D.b” and fill your justification with such refs.

I agree. BTW is there a single-file download, like a .zip or .rar, of the leak?

People should remember that the term “computer security” is an oxymoron. There really is no such thing as security when you start to network computers, especially classified computers. SIPRNET was a dumb idea from the start and this just proves it. You have hundreds of thousands of people that have access to this network, what’s the chances that this has not been the first time someone has done a large data dump and shipped it off to some foreign country? It’s gotten so bad that now amateurs are getting in on the act!

I really don’t know how to get it. I imagine Google would be a good place to look. Many forums will probably have links by people commenting if nothing else. It is far too much for me to go through. I figure the important stuff will come out in the news. I do know that it is being released in may parts because I have read that.

I also know that there is a huge file out on the net from wikileaks that is encrypted. It is labeled “Security” or something like that. He said that if they came after him then he would release the key and everything that is in the file will be exposed. I am not sure that he will ever get the chance to release the key or if any 3rd party would be brave enough to do so. I also have no idea what is in the file.

It looks like Obama is doing some pre-2012 election work to damage Hillary’s prospects to run in 2012.
