I mentioned last week that a new Big Foodie bill opposed by a diverse coalition of limited government activists, small family farmers, and left-leaning “locovores” was coming down the pike.
Today, I’m disappointed to tell you, the regulatory expansion bill masquerading as a “safety” measure passed by a large margin — with stomach-turning Republican support.
The 15 power-grabby Republicans who voted for it:
Alexander (R-TN)
Brown (R-MA)
Burr (R-NC)
Collins (R-ME)
Enzi (R-WY)
Grassley (R-IA)
Gregg (R-NH)
Johanns (R-NE)
Kirk (R-IL)
LeMieux (R-FL)
Lugar (R-IN)
Murkowski (R-AK)
Snowe (R-ME)
Vitter (R-LA)
Voinovich (R-OH)
The Senate bill must be reconciled with a version that passed the House of Representatives in 2009 before Congress adjourns for the year.
I looked and I don’t see many comments at all. I doubt most Americans even have a clue it was passed or what is in it. I’m getting really tired of all this BS. Moving out of here is looking better and better. Small country, small government, a country where it’s not all about politics and they actually spend time enjoying life instead of fighting a huge, oppressive government.
wHERE did you look? Burr is getting hammered I know, so is Vitter....
” left the small grower out of the requirements - thank goodness.) “
I’d check the ‘fine print’, here - the last version of the Tester Amendment I saw included the provision that the FDA could rescind this exemption at its discretion - with no provision anywhere in the bill for such quaint things as ‘due process’ or ‘recourse’.....
We’ve been well-and-truly skrood.......
Senate passes new food police bill: Roll call vote 73-25 (15 R's vote yea)
Does this mean we aren't allowed to grow tomatoes in our own back yard?
Yes, you are most likely right.
I’m very disappointed to see Vitter in the yea column here- sadly I voted for him in the last election.
Who knows, no ones read it yet.
“..at its discretion...”
Thanks. I guess :(
Sort of like what I found in the TSA bill about the gal trying to get her kid’s breast milk through. It is allowed “absent any suspicious behaviour”. Suspicious in her case must have been when she pulled out her copy of the TSA rules to show them they could let it through without getting x-rayed.
Hmmmm...looks like my RINO Senators from Texas received our emails, phone calls, etc.
I just let them know at work that if this passes, I’ll no longer be bringing any more pecans and Satsumas from my trees.
Snowe, Collns, Lugar, Grassley. I think they are deleting the comments on some of them. They probably have one of their aides sitting there deleting all bad comments.
Can you give me a link? I’m on Burr’s now and the last comment was November 3rd. ????????
Vitter last post to wall 17 hours ago.
The only reason it "didn't happen" is because everyone is ignoring the law. Sadly, you'll have the law-n-order freepers that will be supporting the police state when it uses this piece of crap law to harass folk it doesn't like, and can't get through legitimate means.
I don’t care for gestapos of any kind, or for the idea of my children and grandchildren being subject to them, so now is the time to stop them.
What's the difference if they vote the same way, except that we get blind-sided by the RINOs.
Did you see this? What was Brown’s reasoning for voting yea?
The usual suspects!
.
I think it gives them the power to exercise such control at their whim, but most importantly it gives the Federal Government more dependents towards their goal of government dependency.
Another item to the list to eliminate, reverse, defund, whatever we must to correct the course once we have the ability to do so either next year, or certainly in 2012. We the people must retake the government in 2012. NO CHOICE.
It means give yourself a Christmas present this year...
Buy heritage and heirloom seeds...
I used to love to buy from the roadside farm stands. Bye-bye.
