Willie Nelson Will Likely Go to Jail for Pot Bust, Expert Says

Willie Nelson was arrested in Sierra Blanca, Texas on Friday for possession of six ounces of pot. As a result, the country music legend faces as many as two years behind bars.

“If the Texas prosecutors do not reduce the charges, and the marijuana's weight is indeed six ounces, then he is dealing with felony and a potential minimum of 180 days in a county jail and a maximum of two years, with a $10,000 fine,” explained former California-based prosecutor, Robin Sax.

Nelson, 77, was arrested with one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana and three ounces of hallucinogenic mushrooms on his tour bus in 2006, and nine years before that, police in Waco, Texas spotted a joint in his car’s ash tray, prompting another arrest.

“Texas is more stringent than California so he could face time. One of the issues that the court and prosecutors will look at is his prior record and given the fact that he has several arrests, even recent ones, for pot related crimes," Sax said. "I would not be surprised if Texas decided to stick it to him."

Talentless? Show me a more prolific country music songwriter than Willie Nelson...just one.

In terms of output per year of his career, Hank Williams exceeded Willie.

But that's where it stops.

Hank and Willie are two of the most notable songwriters and performers ever in the USA. The closest comparables would be Duke Ellington and George Gershwin.

The story I read says the bus was stopped at a checkpoint. What did I get wrong? They didn’t search his bus and find pot?

I *am* completely devoid of musical talent, as is Nelson.

Apparently you don't know when you are in a hole either....

In that case it’s a wonder we’re not all done for.

Indeed, but Pawpaw's favorite was always Jimmie Rodgers. That man was way ahead of his time.

So that makes it ok for Willie to go on doping?

Considering that interior border checkpoints are unconstitutional and all those in the government that participate in them are traitors, I think Willie should be freed and those that stopped him should be tried and executed for treason.

OK...my final word on the matter.Willie Nelson has proven himself to be utterly talentless and, through his long history of arrests (and in other ways as well) he's proven himself to be worthless piece of white trash. And I don't give a rat's hindquarters what anyone here (or anywhere else) thinks of my comments...or me.

Finis.

Stopping Willie Nelson’s tour bus and searching it for pot just doesn’t seem sporting.

If they had put out their pot and ventilated the motorhome BEFORE pulling up to the border control checkpoint ...

Prosecution will have serious problems with this case. The bus undoubtedly belonged to a tour operator or a corporation, not Willie personally. Can they prove pot was in Willie's personal belongings. For initial stories, that has not been claimed or substantiated. Even if in his personal belongings, can they prove others did not have access to it.

Ol' Willie Boy told the authorities that it was his.

Clear thinking is apparently not a strong point with Mr. Nelson.
