Alaska is considering mounting a legal challenge to President Obama's plan to set aside 187,000 square miles in the state as a "critical habitat" for polar bears, a move that could add restrictions to future offshore drilling for oil and gas.
Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell questioned the decision, saying the designation was not supported by sound science or good economic analysis.
"This additional layer of regulatory burden will not only slow job creation and economic growth here and for our nation, but will also slow oil and gas exploration efforts," he said in a written statement on Wednesday. "We are especially concerned regarding the limited consideration given to the additional economic information the state provided."

Shut up Alaska and bend over. Don’t you understand that polar bears are more important then American citizens or America!
Nuts..........
This administration jumps on e very bandwagon/trendy theme.
Sounds good though!
Maybe they can erect a statue of Obama in DC (paid for with tax money) next to the one of Von Steuben as the Global Warming warrior, the one who ended acid rain, saved the polar bear, spotted owl, and patched the ozone hole all while providing free health care to everyone who can also keep their doctors of choice. lol
This guy is a joke.
Bubba locked up the clean coal reserves in Utah with barely a peep out of that state.
Somehow we need to get this type of ‘theft’ reversed.
The continued assault on our ability to provide our own energy supply is reaching a critic stage.
If tomorrow someone said that we’re running out of fresh water, this administration would jump on that crap too. Oh, wait a second.....didn’t we have that? Aren’t we still paying US Tax dollars to teach us today how we’re running out of water and need to conserve? lol
Global Warming, acid rain, ice age, water shortages, DDT (now produced again), ozone hole, paper recycling, baby seals, polar bear now................. All BS. 100% BS.
While we send people to jail for scamming folks out of $1000, we have politicians and and other real scam artists walking away with hundreds of millions or costing thousands their jobs and no one seems to mind.
Lisa, Lisa quid pro quo time.
I heard there is a very strong seal lobby in Juneau.
Obama’s plan has nothing to do with the polar bears. They aren’t disturbed by a few hundred oil wells scattered throughout a vast area. This is all about pandering to his extreme left-wing environmentalist base for political benefits. Alaska has a reasonable chance of blocking this plan in court.
“In WW II the Japanese & Germans tried to defeat us using bullets and bombs but they had it wrong. All they had to do was to hire PEW and the other enviro-groups”.

Sure, send several thousand Federal agents into the arctic to protect the polar bears instead of the southern border. See how well that plays on the nightly news, and when frozen and/or half-eaten Feds start arriving home in body bags.
Hmmm, feed them to the polar bears they're their to protect?
Just shoot every polar bear on sight.
That will end the problem.
The population of the polar bear is 4 to 5 times what it was 50 years ago. Canada is actually experiencing problems from the GROWTH in population! Hello?????

I foresee a point where this comes to a revolutionary boiling point.
That is, at some point the federal government is going to try to “grab too much” and the result will be a state government that “re-seizes” its own land from the feds.
“Retaking” of the lands will consist of a declaration from the governor and legislature of that state that the state renounces federal control of such lands, and be accompanied by state militia that remove federal employees from such areas at gunpoint.
If several states join together in such a move, it could signal a true moment at which federal power will be forever challenged.
Whether the states could succeed, I can’t say.
But unless and until they try, all I can see is a continuing appropriation of state lands by the feds, and particularly the ‘rats. They are trying to “get as much as they can”, while they can.
The idea is to marginalize conservatism (and the states in which they reside and draw their power) by literally pulling the rug out from underneath them — by taking their land away.
Unless a true challenge is made to “take it back”, it will be forever gone.
Deo Vindice!
This will protect us from executive excesses.
Lets see the studies and skeptic review them that there is any danger of extinction of the polar bears? Alaska should sue.
Pray for America
A while back, some do-good enviro-nazis decided that in order to ‘save’ the un-endangered polar bear it would be a good idea to start a colony of polar bears in Antarctica. I would be interested to find out how long they predict it will take for Emperor penguins to become extinct.
