WASHINGTON--President Obama and his family are spending Thanksgiving at the White House with a traditional dinner; the 2010 menu features six kinds of pies--the same as the Obama 2009 Thanksgiving menu.
Below, the Obama 2010 Thanksgiving menu:
Turkey
Ham
Cornbread Stuffing
Oyster Stuffing
Greens
Sweet Potatoes
Mashed Potatoes
Green Bean Casserole
Macaroni and Cheese
Dinner Rolls
Dessert:
Apple Pie
Pumpkin Pie
Sweet Potato Pie
Banana Cream Pie
Cherry Pie
Huckleberry Pie
Raisin pie sounds interesting. Did you like it?
In light of what we have seen so far I believe you are correct.
We kept up with washing the prep dishes, but the dinner and serving dishes are still in the sink, ugh! Ill tackle that tomorrow.

LOL! That’s my situation, too. I’ll clean it up tomorrow. I have learned not to stress, I guess.
My favorites were pumpkin, raisin, and mince, in that order, with mince way down the list.
Of course, as a lad of about 10 in a “dry” household I knew nothing of the custom of drenching mince pie in Captain Morgan Private Stock!
Raisin, as I vaguely recall, was very gooey and sweet.
Isn’t it awful when stress is in the mix of it all?
We all watched Pollyanna, with Hayley Mills, after dinner. How much more family can it get? Or stress over dishes? The dishes will get done. Rats won’t move in, we won’t be infested with some mold spore, my kitchen is a wreck, the table is cleared and wiped, and all will be back to normal tomorrow sometime because hubby ‘offered to dry’ ===> GUILT FACTOR.
My first thought was ???Raisin Pie??? wierd. I’m not going to run out to make it, I was just curious. Thanks for the insight.
As a PS to the Thanksgiving dinner discussion:
I make an awesome pie crust. Eat your hearts out. I save the dough cuttings, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar, bake until crispy, for a different kind of snack. No store bought Pillsbury or generic store brand pre made stuff for me.
And as a double PSS: I used my own canned and prepped pumpkins and apples. I know, visit the prepping threads. The pies were fabulous.
The biggest key, try to keep the dough cold throughout the process, cold ingredients, then refrigerate the dough before rolling.
I love your profile and even had my hubby come take a look! He was also impressed. (He’s a VN Vet)
Thank your daughter and her spouse and her mates for their service. God Bless you and yours.
**Eating healthy?**
Six pies?
That’s why Michelle looks so healthy...Knock me over with a feather...<sarcasm off
Thank your hubby from our family to yours.
She took some great photos of her time there. I’ve got more. I did a thread series of her year in Iraq. These were just the first two. I still haven’t found the time to get the 3rd and 4th on my page. I’ll get it done. Unfortunately, her hubby isn’t as interested in recording his time there. Perhaps it’s his fifth mission.
Thanks for looking and appreciating. You know how much that means to us military families.
When we moved away and couldn't go "home" for holidays, my sons still wanted macaroni and cheese for the holiday meals, "like Granny makes." It's become a family tradition, I suppose. I vary some of the other things I cook, but not the macaroni and cheese nor the deviled eggs.
We're from Georgia, now live in Texas, but I think it's a family thing more than a Southern thing.
Y A W N >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>,,,,,, excuse me ,,, 6 kinds of pie while advocating carrots and apples for the peasants ,,, how nice you arrogant bastages .
>>I had to unexpectedly put my cat to sleep yesterday...
Been there did that. Had a beloved cat we nursed through diabetes for several years before it finally got the best of him.
Condolences.
